There should be an alert setup in this thread when the cumulative value of all the cars posters in the thread have owned exceeds the cost of one Chiron.
I don't like it, but that means about as much as my opinion on aircraft carriers or private jets. |

Show the Chiron a few tight S bends and I bet a well driven Caterham would embarrass it. |

You can serve a cake to a group in two ways: 1) You can cut it up with a pie cutter and serve the slices out neatly (cut weight) 2) You can smash it with a sledgehammer like Gallagher (1,500hp) Sure, it's very satisfying to neatly carve through corners but other times it's fucking awesome to just mash the pedal. Both should exist. It's also hilarious to see people who can't afford these cars talking about how they perform (myself included) when in reality, some dick just piles them up in his garage and they barely get driven at all. Oh, and when they do, they're driven so damn slow I could pass them on my Cannondale.

A guy has two Veyrons in storage (one is a Super Sport) near me. Quite valuable.

Exacty. Who cares if it can't outhandle a Caterham when the thing never gets driven in the first place? It's a work of art and most are treated as such.

There's a guy who daily drives his Veyron here. Just the tire and wheel cost of that is about the same as buying a normal car and driving it off a cliff every few months.

Not really all that excited about this one tbh. Top speed 290. So what. Maybe what four roads in the world you could do that on without worrying about instantaneous death? I'd rather manufacturers start focusing on how fast they can engineer a car to take a tight hairpin.
All that said. It's impressive in its statistics. Especially the weight given the sheer size/volume of the powerplant and requisite cooling equipment. Don't think the sub 2 second 0-60s are that far fetched anymore.

They did try to make it as light as possible for its mission. Its pretty much all carbon fiber composite and aluminum. And unlike those other cars, it can handle almost any type of onroad driving situation. From crawling in traffic and acting like a midengined Bentley to going 230+mph and everything in between. That's what separated the Veyron from its competitors and that's why the Chiron is so damn ridiculous. Hyperluxury and hyperspeed in one package. And its something that won't try to bite the hands off its ultra HNW owners. lol Don't get me wrong, the P1 is still in my top 3 list but yeah...this thing is crazy. |
