Just an update. I took the car for PPI yesterday (then bought it)... The bmw tech during the PPI was able to fix the alignment issue....no new housing needed! So I know it can be done :-)

Sorry to bring this old thread up again, but just wanted to check if anyone has had this fixed under the BMW extended warranty?

My dealer wouldn't do it, said it's not related to the motor. Extended warranty covers mirror motor, but not any physical damage.

I am pretty certain it has something to do with the motor. Every time I start the car, I can hear driver side mirror motor spinning, but mirror is not moving which is very odd. Otherwise it does fold up when I push the button.
