Dealer says I need push rods for throttle actuator.
I have been getting DSC, limp mode, and increased emmisions warnings on the iDrive for a few days now. I took my 2011 E93 in for service and they replaced the throttle valve and that seemed to fix the problem for a day or two but now it's back. Shop now says I need new push rods for throttle actuator. Does this sound kosher? It is covered under the extended warranty I purchased but I am curious. The car runs fine.

Pushrods could have been damaged by mechanics working on the issue. At least it is a warranty job! History says the throttle actuators themselves are a likely suspect (and sometimes perform for months with only intermittent fail codes).

which dealer is this btw?
I got my throttle actuators fixed at Peter Pan. They replaced the entire unit. Mine was covered under the emissions warranty, and I recommend you should get it covered under this one instead of the extended. The extended I believe forces you to pay a deductible while, the emissions warranty is 100% free. read this: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=900020 |
