winter tire problem

i have a 07 335i with sport package(staggered wheels)
i purchased new rims (17*8) and purchased dunlop wintersport m3 RFT tires size 225-45-r17. the car keeps breaking traction in the dry(its not snowing in ny yet) and am i just driving like an idiot on these smaller winter tires or is there a problem?

Mold release compound may be part of the problem, but winter tires are designed for winter/snow conditions and are not UHP tires.

The mold release will wear off after 50-100 miles(?), but the tradeoff for winter/snow traction is less capable dry road ability.
