Did anyone go to a 305 rear wheel?
I'm minutes away from ordering a set of wheels (19" P40s)
I'm wondering if I should stay with the 295 rear, or go to the 305... Any thoughts? |

Thinking about 305/30R19 in the back as well but might end up running 285/35R19 instead.

I've seen many people with a 295 and 305.

We did a set of HRE P40 19x10.5 et28 in the rear with Nitto Invo 305/30-19 which replaced Invo 285/30-19. It should be et33 as it rubs a little but the car is also very low. The cars we have done with the same series of wheels with the same offset but with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 295/30-19 have no rubbing or fitment issues.

315 works if you have the proper custom wheel.

There is no point in running such a wide tire on this car in the rear unless you are doing it for bragging rights of running such a wide tire. The disparity between the front and rear tire size will cause the car to understeer much more and throw off the relatively neutral handling. Second, a 305 tire weighs a good 3-4 lbs more per tire than a 275 or 285, causing you to have an increase in rotational mass that will slow down the acceleration of the car. And finally, a 305 is typically a lot more expensive as well. Choose wisely...its not like the M3 has a lot of low end torque and need that wide a tire...
