Wow this thing looks soooo much like the CLK from mercedes. I def. thinik BMW is moving this car upmarket compared to the sedan. It looks very different and I like it.

I think I like the E90 better. That car does not look as sporty for some reason.
I guess I need to wait but it looks like the E90 has a higher deck lid and the belt line in the back past the sail panel stays straight and doesn't curve down. I think if it was flat it would give it a more sporty appearance. I don't know. kind of like this. Really rough. Before and after

I disagree. I know it'll give it a greater butt, sort of like, a Maxima. But the BMW aproach to sportiveness differs it from the japanese view. I'll se if i can show comparison photos from different angles proving my point. I'll have to do some work though.

Even taking into account the cladding and tape: Nasty rear overhang. Car looks too long. Probably longer than the sedan by 2-3 inches, as the E46 coupe was also. Nasty cut lines at the rear rocker panel. Rear wheels give the illusion that they're smaller than the fronts. Not a shape I'd drool over like the E46 coupe when it first came out.

I believe the wheels might be actually larger in the front, as in... i can't remember what other car...IS350, I think.
Here's an idea of how the E92 would look with a bigger rear-end.

the wheels do look different sizes... and not just to the eye, substantially different, but i feel like these pre-production concerns, and theyre just throwing wheels on their for testing purposes not really actual production rims and what-not... you guys know this already im just verbalizing
and about the overhands being an issue... even the 5 series has a pretty big overhang in its rear, i didnt like it at first but its a non-issue now, it has just become part of the design |

The thing is that the rear lines of the E60 still flow well whereas the pictures showing the E92 (maybe its not a coupe but a convertible with its new roof like on the SLK?) do not flow well at all. First of all the door part looks like its been put together on a friday afternoon and the rear looks like its on of the old chrysler sedans, maybe because it is derived from the convertible bodyshape... I dont like it, im happy with my E90

Heres my crappy Pchop version. I want it to look more like this. With the sedan kidneys that have the nice solid strips on the tops and the hood overhang and headlights.

I just wish they would take the back end of the e90 and put on the back of the e92
like this. see how high the deck lid is compared to the belt line on the window. that is what they need to do. the way it is in the picture has it moving to a point in the rear. Blaaaaaaaaa

I hate how the rear looks "skinner" than the front.

Maybe that's where they'll have the plastic strip on the door to prevent door dings?

I never liked the kidney eyebrows, I like the integrated look of the e92 kidneys. The hood overhang onto the headlights as you mention for the e90, I've always found sexy. The overhang gives a smooth wave/gradual flow affect over a otherwise generic looking headlight (for what the e92 might look like but hope not) before you modded the pic. |
