What is the difference between this F10 and the F30 performance cf knob? I am assuming same knob but different boots...on the same note can the F30 boot be altered to fit the e9x base?

i am asking this because in case others attempt this mod, the F30 cf knob is about $15 cheaper than the F10 cf knob. If the F30 boot can be fitted to the e9x base ring then others may be able to save some money with this mod.

Thanks

edit: it has been done by mdosu, http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...light=f30+boot

purchasing the f30 knob/boot instead of the f10 knob/boot will save you 15 bucks.

seems that the shift boot is a bit oversize? it literally touches the "frame" of those buttons

correct, F30 and F10 only differs in the boot ring which you have to cut off anyways...so save yourself $15 and buy the F30.

It's all customized. when you do the mod, you have to figure out how you want to glue the boot on the boot ring and how much material you want to cut off, etc. I left excess material on mine.

I've emailed them for a price quote for an extension adapter (behind the boot) that extends the stem by about 1 inch. So this piece would snap in to the OEM stem on one end, and your knob on the other. And I suppose since IND will be making a few at a time, you can ask for different lengths. Let me know if you're interested.
Don't have time to read the whole thread, did you get the 1 inch shift extension adapter? I had installed a BMW Performance knob and it's a bit too short especially when I shift from 2nd to 3rd. Thank you.

no one will custom make a piece for me (I called IND). Their recommendation is to use the OEM lever, get someone to cut it and weld an extension piece in. They said it's too hard to match the BWM knob's "thread pattern" (which isn't a thread).

Their extension is a classic knob thread pattern.
