I saw my first MR M3 Sedan today

haha. not really.

edit: I really thought I was looking at one. Driving down route 3 today off to the side I saw what I thought was a MR M3 and I did a doubletake only to be disappointed to find out that it was just a Pontiac.

Wow... never really noticed it before. But could they have possibly taken any more design elements from the M3?

Yup and I was really excited to see my first M3 in the wild. What a disappointment.

That's a Holden rebadged as Pontiac for the US market. Holden have been stealing a lot of BMW design clues including the pumped wheel arches which they have made it across the model range.

For a muscle car company they don't seem to have originality when it comes to designs.

Copycats.

In the case of the G8 they subtract power. The LS3 makes ~430hp in the vette, but only about 400hp in the G8.

(in GXP version anyway, which is not out yet)

don't forget the little antenna GM stuck on the roof and the plastic side skirts under the doors.

Take a shot from the front and you will see even more similarities/rip offs

Wow, your right. I missed the antenna. A part of me really wishes we could make things like this public knowledge when they try to buy a car.

What makes you so sure that these design elements didn't start with the Pontiac?
