For a myriad of reasons DCT is superior to MT but the egos of the MT crowd prevent them from seeing that...so periodically it's nice to remind them of what they're missing and smiling...
Love my 2011 w/ZCP and DCT and wouldn't have it any other way!

Add me.

I bought a pre-owned, but I was specifically looking for one with all the technology bits...EDC, M-DCT, iDrive etc.

1. If all these things are available, why not make full use of them?

2. Traffic in my town is a nightmare. My 6M E90 335 (and the shifter was incredible, tight & snappy like a rifle bolt) had me worrying about premature clutch wear (clutch, 1st, 10 feet forward, clutch, neutral). Flip DCT into D, crawl along in traffic...find an open stretch, hello S5!

3. M-DCT DOES NOT UPSHIFT FOR YOU in S. Therefore it is a manual. Semi-automatic, automated, whatever...but still a manual.

4. Anyone really worried about performance: the M-DCT is faster and smoother than you'll ever be rowing a stick.

5. I COMPLETELY AGREE with the 6M having more driving enjoyment, but I'll take the benefits I mentioned in trade.

Very happy with it!

A bit late but count me in!

Got my 2012 E92 M3 with M-DCT around 2 years ago, and I love it! The DCT is definitely one of my favorite parts of the car!
Might be changing the car soon though

Just got my IB 2011 E90 with Comp/DCT. I haven't used D mode yet as I find the S4/5 modes to be enjoyable. One thing I can't figure out is how my car starts out with Power on and EDC both lights lit and I'm glad it starts in S3. Still learning a lot but it's incredibly fun with the dct lightning shifts. Does everyone downshift when they come to a stop?

Just picked this up a couple months ago. IB/Speed cloth DCT. I added comp wheels with 255/275 PS4s. Will be adding full exhaust and some suspension mods in the future. I am love with the DCT.

Add me twice, I mean hey it's only fair. 2011 E92 DCT M3 and 2011 E93 DCT M3. I'll update when I get that 2011 E90 DCT M3 with ZCP I have always been wanting.

Yes I do go down the gears manually when coming to a stop in S2 so it does not rev match ,rev matching far to loud and scares and annoys people lol , cos I have a full exhaust and BPM stage 2 tune , it sounds so good when manually downs shifts , also my car gets exhaust pop and bangs when shifting down around 4k manually, no rev match ,higher rpm the louder they get awesome !!!!!

I also in S2 when shifting manually up shifting, I back off the accelerator when changing first to second gear and so on like a manual and get lots off exhaust pops and bangs when changing gears like this ,its also a lot of fun doing it this way , it turns lots of heads also lol. I am new to this DCT and just finding more ways to enjoy it .

I also never use the paddles around town !! I only use gear level , cos the paddles for me just get in the way and get lost when going around corners , it took a lot of practice to do it this way and now it feels natural. Its not for everyone I know !!

UPDATE: Got the BPM Sport transmission flash! Aside from a noticeable difference between D and S modes (D is lazier, really more of a cruise mode, while S has become sharper, snappier)...I can now shift into N at low speeds! This means I can rev if I feel like it, and then shift back into D/S without having to come to a complete stop and apply the brakes!

I find myself shifting with the lever (NOT the paddles) a lot more, and being able to rev while moving has removed one of the last disadvantages of the DCT vs a manual!

I still have to smile everytime I downshift with the DCT, my neighbors love me...

I do notice a strange squeak sound when upshifting at high RPM 1-2 and 2-3, anybody else experience this?

Are you not able to shift into N while moving with the stock DCT programing? Mine has always been able to go into N, so I can rev on a fool, then without stopping put it back into gear. The engine even rev-matches before grabbing a gear...

P.S. ADD ME TO THE CLUB!!! I am a hardcore Manual guy, but can't pass up on a true performance upgrade. Love my DCT!!!

Oh I could always put it in N, but popping it back in gear required the vehicle to be completely stopped and the brake applied. Now I can do it while rolling!

I should have been more clear

I understood, you were clear

Is this normal opperation for the DCT? I dont need to stop to get back into gear and I dont think I have an aftermarket program for the DCT..

Mine's a 2010. Model year change maybe? Did 2012 have stop & go? That could be related...
