Yellow BRAKE, ABS, DSC lights are on!

Only during cold mornings (around 35F and under) the Brake light, ABS, and Traction control light all turn on. After a minute of driving they either go away or I have to pull over and turn off the car completely and start it back up again then it goes away.

What could cause this? it happened three days in a row. Now the mornings have been warmer (40F and up) and no lights.

All three lights being on suggests that one of the wheel speed sensors is giving a faulty reading, and may be covered in metal or other debris. An improper reading from one of the wheel speed sensors will give you an error like that. There are other possibilities, but this is a good place to start as it's relatively easy for you or a shop to check the sensors.

You can also scan the car for codes, and see which errors are logged.

Thanks!
Where exactly is the wheel sensor located? I have a gut feeling its my right rear wheel because I hit a pothole with that one recently

Check your battery too. If you have a multi-meter, set it to 20V on the DCV side and check your voltage when the car is off. If you are pulling 12.3 or lower, you need to charge your battery......A 'good' reading is at least 12.5 or higher. Your battery could be on it's way out, or the alternator is not charging correctly. Typically, the lights will come on when the battery starts to get low.

The fact that the battery is low when it's cold and then lights go away after it warms up a little makes me think that it could be that.......It may be losing it's charge as it sits overnight and then the alternator charges it up once you start driving.

It sounds like a battery issue for sure. Instead of driving, turn your steering wheel lock to lock first and see if the lights go away. This calibrates the steering angle sensor. The calibration can be lost at low battery voltages, so it's the best place to start troubleshooting without scanning codes. If they go out, you know it's getting to be battery time.

What do you mean by turn your steering wheel lock to lock? Do you mean to turn the wheel all the way till it locks and cannot go further? Should the engine be on or just the electronics.
Sorry for the multiple questions. I'm not sure I understand your troubleshooting

He's suggesting that you should start the car and while parked, turn the wheel all the way to the left, and then all the way to the right. This should calibrate the steering angle sensor.

If the lights go away, but come back later on, this could be caused by low battery voltage and the car forgetting the calibration settings as the battery voltage drops below minimum, as suggested by TC Kline and BMW135er. Definitely a possibility!

I haven't tried what they have recommended me yet. The weather has been warmer and nothing has flagged. I'm in the clear... for now *crosses finger*

08 E92 M3 ABS,DSC,DBC lights, and Hill start Malfunction

Was driving and today the ABS, DCT,DBC warning lights came on. Also, cruise control is disabled and the traction control light is on (yellow with ! exclamation point). It also said there is a hill start malfunction. It goes away when I stop the car and shut it off. When I start it again everything is fine after hitting 30 mph for awhile the lights come back. Gonna check the speed senors, because IO have no idea what the problem could be. I check the error codes with two different readers and there were no error codes, everything said okay. I also tried each reader multiple times. So, do I need a special reader for this??? Or could it be the speed sensor or battery? I did have my iphone charging and plugged in (inside car with engine off for an hour today while at an appointment). After I left that place, the lights came on, then went way and came back with the frequency as described above. Really worried about this... Plan to take it to where I bought it tomorrow, but that's a3.5Hr dirve, so if anyone can help me crack this tonight, I would be very thankful. Also, I have read alot about this today and understand the price ranges for repairs, but since I have no codes and the car still seems to run great... I am really not sure.

Angry ABS DTC and Brake warning lights on

Hi,

I drive a 2007 330i M Sport Coupe, with less than 27K on the clock. I've had an intermittent fault over the last couple weeks. The ABS DTC and Brake warnings lights came on when I started the car in the morning, but went off later in the day. I took the car to the local dealer who diagnosed a fault with the DSC Hydraulic unit, and the cost of the replacement unit, £2,000....plus fitting and coding!!! Since visiting the dealer, the lights have come back on once, but only briefly. I spoken to an independent service technician, and he has told me it is a common fault that BMW are fully aware of, but aren't prepared to do anything about, and the only way to cure it, is to fit the new unit.......... Not very good for an Approved Used BMW will full dealer service history.

Check your brake fluid level. That can throw the brake and abs lights.

I have done this fix on 6 cars so far including my own M3 and an M6. In this cases have been a mater of corrosion on the electrical motors carbons that make the get stock or contact making the motor unable to turn the pump mechanism.

Hope this helps.

Also cheq battery and abs sensors before you go this route.

Solved with new brake sensor. This happened long ago but thought I'd clear that up.
