Is anyone else pulling off in 2nd?

I tried to search, but couldn't find anything.

Is anyone else pulling off in 2nd when tooling around?

Is there anything to worry about with doing this?

I wouldn't think there is anything wrong with doing this. I believe some DCT owners reported that in auto mode (D1) this was normal procedure.

No problem there as long as you don't lug the engine trying to go uphill or something.

I was the very first time I drove the car from the stock yard to the dealership. The roads had a lot of gravel and muck on them and I was quite unused to 414bhp then...but not since!

i've driven a Z4M before and i start in 2nd... it keeps your passenger's head from swinging back from all the power.

Really? Worst I can see is wearing out your clutch marginally quicker because you need to give your engine more slip as you start off.

M-DCT is not an automatic and not all autos nor automated manuals start in 2nd. Most don't. M-DCT in D1 mode does.
