Need help with my 2010 M3 coupe Auto
I purchase a used 2010 M3 coupe from Rallye BMW in February 2013, they show me car-fax was clean and test driving the car.the car works fine but I realize that my passenger side door was painted but they said they don't know.
I know some guys work in body shop and check my car, they told me my whole passenger side was painted including fender door and back. but its too late,I just keep driving my baby. In May, I went to travel around 2 months and now my car was dead without any batteries. I lived in Dix Hills so I tow my car to huntington BMW, they said my car has a serious accident before so that my battery was watered and the wired are damaged. they said these are not covered by warranty, and I have to spend 5000+ to fix this problem. I called to Robert in Ralleye which is the sells-man in RAlleye, they want me to tow my car to them, I have no idea what happen in next and I really wish someone can help or teach me what should I do next? BTW, I bought this use 2010 M3 white in Feb,2013. and I went to travel in May 2013 until now. so my car was sit at home driveway for around 2 and a half month. the car is not certified but it has factory warranty until april 2014 |

If you bought the car assuming there was no prior damage to the car then you need to hold Rallye BMW responsible. There are plenty of non-reports or incorrect reports on Carfax, and sometimes it also just takes some time for the report to be registered in the system. Using it as your only sense of protection is just not enough. Now assuming they disclosed the car was in a prior accident then there isn't really much you can do. I'd look for emails, reports, classified postings, anything you have that may have communicated that this was a clean car. You put your trust into Rallye that you were buying a good car from them. Now that Huntington has told you that, in your invoice where the warranty work was denied it should be written/documented what the reason was... should state something about the car has been in a serious accident blah blah blah. No need to tow the car anywhere. Drive it to Rallye with your Huntington invoice, all and any paperwork as I mentioned above and be ready to have a pissed off argument.

thats unfortunate. We try to do the "right" thing by our customers and treat their cars like it was our own but sometimes the negligence of an individual is not a reflection of the entire operation. I'm not sure why you were not notified of the damage by your service advisor. Having said that, your family has had a long standing relationship with Rallye and a positive one at that. I'm sorry you feel that way and I dont think it's fair to say "be careful at Rallye". Hope you can find a dealer that can satisfy your needs. GL.

just a thought, but isnt it possible that the door was dented or hit, but the previous owner did NOT go through insurance, which is why its clean on car fax. I had a similar scenario, but mine worked out with the dents being removed without having to respray the doors.

It is very unfortunate that this is the case for the original poster. And yes, there exist meters/ gauges to tell whether exterior dents have been filled, paint change, etc. When I sold my Lexus IS, the buyer had one.
I can vouch for the member "slalomfever" and tell you he is a stand up guy who takes pride in what he does and how his customers are doing. Sure, anyone can say 'whatever they want on this forum" which is a real mature way to handle things and sometimes half the problem. It is like going to a restaurant or hotel... situations arise and the reviews will always vary. Sometimes it is an easy fix, an oversight, or simply an honest mistake. But the responses do not always help or address the issue. Hence why management exists. Rallye is a big dealership. My suggestion would be for you OP, to have Rallye tow your vehicle in for a full inspection. Take up "slalomfever" and see how the matter gets resolved- I am sure he will assist you. Factory warranty will help with parts and should with battery. (I have had several batteries in my old M3 which were covered. When I spoke genuinely and respectfully, but firmly with my service manager, other issues were addressed under warranty.) If you are truly unhappy in the car, maybe something equitable can be worked out based on the time you had the vehicle. Bottom line: when buying a used car, it is unfortunate but caveat emptor. Could we not all tell a story or too... whether it is an M or a Pinto. Good luck nicholas and keep us posted!

This is day 3 and I have not heard from OP yet.
I got the information on OP's car and the CARFAX report is clean. The car is currently at Rallye's service department. Management and the service people are aware of his problem and will do everything they can to solve the issues. |

I've never had a good experience when a dealer does body work. No one seems to get it right.

Yes, the service department is on it. They are aware of the problem and have the shop foreman involved as well. OP should have his car back very soon. Last edited by slalomfever; 08-04-2013 at 11:16 AM.. |

but i still have something wanna let u guys know that. after I knew my car was dad, I towed to huntington bmw, I paid 100+ for towing and they said because of my previous unknown accident, I had to pay 4100+ labor for fixing the car. the problem they mention that my battery was water damaged. we had to pay 300+ to pick up my car. then we spent another 200+ to tow my car in to Rallye. They fix my car and thanks to Rallye, they are great dealership and "slalomfever" help me a lot on this . the person who take care of my car called Denis,or Denial. cant remember so well but he told me the reason y my battery was water damaged is because, water came in to my car from the part near gas cap. i have no idea how to explain but i guess u guys understand that, they told me just the sealing problem in the "gas door". they fix my car and i was happy to go. but I just found out no one is paying my 800+ towing fee and fee was charged in huntington. so i went back to the salesman which I bought 2 cars from called Robert Wachsman. he was so angry and dont wanna talk to me that, your car was in clean car fax and NEVER in an accident before!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! when i talked to him about my towing fee and check fee in huntington. He told me that," u should tow your car directly to us, but not huntington, c that , we charge nth but huntington charge u. We cant pay for u" I accepted that, but the only thing I want u guys know is this salesman just tell me my car was not in an accident before?? how come he said that and when i bought this car from him, the discount he first told me is ,the car is perfect clean so the discounted is like 100s, but when I really buying this car I offer a 3000 dollars discount, and they accepted at 2000. Rallye is a great dealership but this kind of salesman will screw up they honesty. at the end thank you so much for helping me slalomfever. |
