Crazy idrive/navi system issue

Ok so I did some searching but never found anyone who has had the following issue where the sound turns off too....the navi screen (and sound) randomly restarts while driving.... Basically I'll be playing some music or something and randomly the sound will stop and the navi screen turns red for a second then turns off and a few seconds later it turns back on exactly where it started even where the music left off.... The first time it happened was like 2 months ago it happened 3-4 times in a 3 day period never to return. But today on a 40 minute drive it happened 4 times. I'm out of warranty and wondered if anyone has any ideas why this is happening or how it can become fixed

Its happened to me. No idea why. Is it the older version of idrive that is dvd based. Did you hit a bump or something?

Actually it seems to happen about 50% of the time during bumps...BUT it's the newer 2009+ idrive system

It sounds like some kind of lose connection. If you are a DIY person check out the connections behind the screen and the idrive and also in the boot where the combox is. Good luck.

What I meant was the MULF2 in the boot.

CIC replaced under warranty

I had the same issue. Left the car for service and mentioned the Navi restart/blank issue. Foreman found a fault in CIC unit. So they replaced the entire CIC under warranty. They also updated Software version for Multimedia, telephone and DCT. Now the car runs smooth like butter and there is zero dct lag.
