Maybe it is because the boot is bigger in the sedan? Or maybe it is because it is hard to access the rear seats in the coupe?

Either way, I don't have folding seats either in my e90. That is what my SUV is for.

those who don't need this feature either, swap tires only when their tread runs low, don't swap seasonally b/c they live in florida or have winter/track wheels where they do it themselves.
Yup. I didn't realize how useful a feature it could be. You can still fit all 4 wheels in the car (ive done it several times) but its a pain. 1 wheel in the trunk, and 3 in the backseat on top of some sleeping bags and trash bags.

E93s do not have split folding rear seats. Instead, the rear seat back folds down as a single piece to provide a flat surface for extra luggage space when there are no rear passengers. So, you cannot make the car a three-seater; it is either two or four. Furthermore, unlike with the E90 and E92, folding down the seat does not give you full access to the trunk. You either get no trunk access or, optionally, a generously sized pass-through.

it's the same with folddown seats, you can't fit more than 1 in the trunk. So it's 1 in trunk, lay out tarp or old sheet to line the seat back from the fold down seats, and 3 in the back. But it's less messy and easier to stack the 3 tires in the back.

One of the selling points (for me) was how much space there is in teh back of the coupe...even more when you fold down the rear seats. I've transported 4 19inch wheels and tires in the back of the coupe!!

I think that is amazing.

+1. Seems especially painful, as the extra cargo space and access to items stored in the trunk with the top-down would be amazing.

Well, technically you can access items via the (optional, to the best of my knowledge, though possible standard on all US cars) pass-thru. If you have the ski bag there (which comes with the cold weather package) feel free to remove it if you never use it. That's what I did and now I can reach (or crawl if I am feeling particularly adventurous) right into the trunk with the rear seat folded down.

It is true that you don't get the same expanse of unobstructed space you would in an E90 or E92 with the seat down, but it is still very useful for transporting a large item, or reaching in to get a piece of luggage when the top is down, or for quickly hiding illegals when crossing into the states (kidding, just kidding on that last one).

No idea about the Sedan, but 100% fold down seats in the coupe, I was shocked by this and by how much space it creates, who would have thought an M3 could be more practical than a 5 series lol

I remember reading a thread on here for a DIY to convert sedans with no fold down seats since the parts are available but now I can't find that thread.....?

Apparently all the bolt holes are there and you just need to get the necessary parts, am I correct on this one?

here you go, it was on the E90 3-series DIY thread, a parallel thread for non-M3 forum

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ight=fold+rear

anyways, this is an awesome write up. You do need to source your split seat back though, but yes, then you need to just wire up your cable and release. Seems pretty straight forward. There's a few E90 black leather rear interiors for sale on the M3 forum here, check the interior for sale thread (you'll want M3 Novillo leather vs the crappy non-M3 leatherette)

someone should do this!!!

Thank you so much!

I'm doing BMW Performance front seats and re-doing the rear to match with custom upholstery
