Feedback on colors...Alpine White vs. Jerez Black vs. Space Grey
I'm placing an order for a 2011 M3 this Friday and I am torn between Alpine White and Jerez Black. I see pros and cons to each...so I would welcome anyone's thoughts and comments on why 1 color choice is preferred over the other. I know ultimately it is my decision...but viewpoints and feedback are always appreciated.
NOTE: I also like Space Grey more and more as well. I'm completely confused at this point!!! What to do???? Last edited by dardeca; 07-15-2010 at 09:51 PM.. |

I like Jerez because almost every M3 i see is AW, Jerez is a bit easier to maintain than jet black and has a nice two tone look. If you are interested in seeing the different shades Jerez has to offer do a search of a few of my threads with pics i took and you will get the idea.

I will make it simple, if you love both colors equally that is. If you are lazy and wont want to clean your car very often, Apline white. If you love your m3 and are going to put a lot of care into it, Jerez Black.

if you don't mind the extra cleaning maintenance, then jerez is the way to go. however, i went with both . i have a '08 jerez black and ordered a '11 alpine white. the jerez looks beautiful, when it's clean; however, it literally gets dirty in my garage (dust, etc.) right after i clean it. with jerez, you also have to be careful when washing it to prevent the swirl marks and spider web marks as it is a lot more visible on darker cars. jerez black is also nice since it's not as common as the alpine white. anyway, i enjoyed the jerez, but now onto AW. |

All personal preference really, with some benefits to each.
I've had black cars all my life, and I wanted a change so I went to the opposite end of the color spectrum Any black or variant of it, when clean, looks absolutely amazing. Needs to be clean though, and requires a bit more cleaning maintenance than white does. When researching my color for my '11, I didn't like the hue that you see in the Jerez Black on a sunny day. I was torn between Jet Black and Alpine White. Like I said, I've owned nothing but black cars, so I wanted a big change.

I vote Jerez Black, but I might be a little bit biased. However, slap few coats of some good wax and nothing beats dark colors like JzB. Check it out....(SwissVax Crystal Rock)

I think the M3's look good regardless of color. But i find black to be my least favorite. I just think it hides or doesn't emphasize all the gorgeous lines and muscular physique of the e9x....(wide fenders, side gills, power dome e.t.c)
Very common, but Alpine whyte #1 for me all day. |

There is a reason why there are a lot of AW's out there. I've owned both colors and even the metallic blacks are so much more unforgiving than the white.

I've seen just one other white M3 on the road. I live in York, UK. Wierd. 2 years ive owned mine.
Its a pain in the arse to look after. So was my black Audi beforehand. If you cant be bothered, get grey. My JCW is grey, takes 1/2 an hour to clean.

Way too many AWs everywhere, and white isn't even a color - it's the absence of color. Read about it. Jerez is gorgeous in person.
