Alpine White E92 M3 At SEMA

I can't say the car blew me away in person like the E46 M3 did when I saw it the first time.

Agreed! Plus, those wheels don't fit the look of the new ///M..........well, at least that particular AW ///M.

The e46m3 set the bar pretty darn high. I was so in love with that car back in college. The e92 m3 feels like just another m3... I admit it's still a great car but that aurora or halo, whatever you call it is gone.

White isn't very flattering as a lot of the details disappear. I guess I'm in the minority though because I don't think the E46 M3 can hold a candle to the E92 M3. And I like the E46 quite a bit.

Wait, so is this a US spec car?

I'd like to see some better shots of the front bumper...

You mean you want to see those spiffy reflectors?

I hope that was just temporary and they have a more elegant solution. They are so unsightly, it's almost a dealbreaker detail for me.

That's the final solution. Look at the E60 M5, it has the same setup.

It looks like the side reflector is incorporated into the side fender vent splitter.

Edit - I guess this is just the turn indicator perhaps.

These pictures just do not do it justice and the wheels are awful! I've seen the car in white in real life and it looks stunning. One of the best colours, IMHO, and I hate white cars! In fact, if I wasn't so scared about residuals, as the UK market traditionally punishes white cars, I'd be tempted to order my next one on white...

M5 and 5 series have the amber corners in the headlight assembly, just like the E90.

I believe randy was talking about the pics we've seen of M3s with the ambers tacked on to the bumper in a last-minute-looking fashion. Its possible those are final, but its also possible that we'll get the bicycle reflectors like those on the non-M E92.

No they don't BMW changed it for this year. Go to BMW USA Website and look. The E60 5er has them like the E92, but the E60 M5 has them tacked on as you describe below and we have seen in pics of supposed US Spec E92 M3.

Yes, that's what he was talking about and given that those are the same as the E60 M5 its basically gauranteed that's what we'll see on the E92 M.

eBay Link for 08 M5.

Aha, yes, I did forget about the E60 facelift in March. I admit I had not paid attention to what changed there. I wonder (if you happen to know) - what has been the speculation on the forums as to why BMW changed this? It seems an odd choice to me from an aesthetic point of view - though it may well save cost as far as now having a US specific bumper vs. the old US specific headlight assembly. And I suppose some folks like being able to just remove the recflector (M5, M3?) or just paint it (5, 3).

It seems very probably that the facelifted (MY2009) E90 3 will also get the bicycle reflectors as well.

All but guaranteed, yes. There is another thread about with pics from (if I recall) a Canadian BMW site that showed the M3 with E92-style bicycle reflectors. It was not an actual IRL photograph however, so its not exactly any strong counter-evidence.

FWIW, this SEMA car is not US spec.

No reflectors. Unless of course, they are the tack on type and were removed. But I somewhat doubt that.

Cost \ inventory savings from what I can tell, Audi, MB and VW have all done the same thing on all but a few models (like the CL-Class from MB).

There was actually a pic of a white E93 M3 on the BMWUSA site with the bicycle reflector but as I recall it appeared to be merely a photoshop of a white euro e92 m3 press photo.

The Black BBS wheels look so much better on that white car.
