DIY splitter install??? Need a tip

Should be incredibly easy. Saw a video showing drilling the second hold and then using a clip "screw nut". Does anyone know where to get those? Anyone else installed and had any issues?

On my E90, one hole lined up with a pre-drilled hole. For the second hole I used the two screw nuts that were near where the new holes go. Just drilled it, then screwed those in. Pretty simple. I used 3M double sided tape instead of the betalink as well.

You can get the clips from home depot. Bt it would help if you posted some more info and maybe pics. What kind of splitter, what material? I can say from experience, that the clips alone will prob not hold the splitter on. Unless it's small and doesn't create much downforce.

You must be talking about the. BMW perf splitters? No way a full splitter would stay on with. Just tape...

with my Akrym.. all the holes lined up. no drilling is needed just put a lot of 3M double sided tape and you should be good to go.

BTW what splitter do you have.

EDIT: people think im just putting tape. WTF... thats not right mentioned above that all the holes on my Akrym lined up. Meaning screws are in it.... plus xtra tape to hold the lip will make it more durable.

If a full splitter is creating any downforce, you don't want that sucker with tape only, especially mounted on a convoluted shape. A spoiler has a vector against the trunk (pushing it down), but a splitter has all forces away from the bumper, trying to rip it off. In fact, the bumper is too flimsy to withstand any significant downforce anyway, as it's not bolted to any solid piece (just the 'hanging' black pieces) at the bottom. Good day.

I used the 2 screws provided for each side and one strip of 3M 1/2" Automotive Double sided tape on the top/upper most edge. That's all you need!

A jack or ramps helps to get under there and see what's going on.

Using just tape is ridiculous... those WILL come off sooner than later.

Thanks for all the tips. I was refering to the only splitters I know - the OEM ones. I attached them with the one stock screw and then 1/2" double sided foam tape on the top edge just as Chris did. I may just drill a hole and use another screw for the other one, without a clip nut.
The OEM splitters are certainly not providing a lot of downforce.

Also, in the OEM box, EACH splitter was provided with 10 screws and no nuts. Of course no diagram of the installation. I really wonder what the intention is for providing 10 screws per side!

I drilled the second hole...no clip nut and it held fine. The hole won't be remotely visible if the splitters are removed.

No idea why they gave so many screws...seemed like complete waste to me!

How did you make that splitter? I just bought the Akrym front splitter. The holes all line up well and I used 3m tape all along the front but it didn't hold and there is a gap at the front now??? What can I use? The only idea I have is betalink like I used on the rear OEM spoiler I have because of the real downforce created.
