How many k's are you getting to a tank?
I'm getting around 320-330km city driving... I think it might be my driving style & tune
On the highway, around 550km. How about everyone else? |

I'm lucky to get 350km to a tank. It's scary sometimes how thirsty these cars are. I fill up in the morning and by late afternoon the needle has dropped to about 7/8.

Most of my driving is inner city traffic and I'd say around 320k's per tank....just can't cruise though, love the noise too much and the tempting acceleration....but that's why we buy these isn't it???
Does any form of tuning actually increase economy as well as performance? I know it can in certain cars but not sure about M3's. |

Depends whether I am in my fuel saving mood or fuel burning mood. Average 14.7 to 15.1/100 km. With the ///Performance exhaust I've been stepping on the loud pedal too often. Can't resist. Need a fat wallet to pay $1.60/l for BP Ultimate in Perth. Bloody rip-off.

I get to drive against the traffic to work, so for the longest time I get 13.6 l/100km. On average I would get about 450km per tank. The worst would have been for 1 week where I had to drive in traffic with 16+ l/100km and ended up 350km for that tank.
Most of my trips to work is on normal mode, and most of my trips leaving work is on M mode. Looking at all your figures, I feel like I ain't using the car as properly as I should... |

My wife's X5 40d freaks me out...... heavy city peak hour driving and she gets 9-10l/100km with heaps of torque and approx 800+ km per tank. I'd go for an F10 535d in a heartbeat if they weren't so ridiculously overpriced.

35l/100km on track (Waneroo)
10l/100km on freeway 15-18 school runs shops etc. M mode engaged a lot Fantastic car who cares about the fuel PS my 1995 Nissan Micra does about 6l/100km but who cares. Especially when it cant steer and brake at the same time in the wet. Last edited by Fighter Pilot; 07-07-2011 at 08:05 PM.. Reason: accuracy |

Sorry new to the forum. Can't seem to post the photos (probably a good thing since all the B&Es just to steal cars. Got to admit the acceleration on the roller coaster at Ferrari world the other day (0-250) in 4 secs was unbelievable. makes F18 or F111 seem mundane not having done a carrier takeoff! In any case the M3 is fantastic to drive. Take the kids to school then head to the the track. What more could one ask?

N3 Rossi, Thanks but not a fighter pilot any more! F111's retired last year. Awesome bit of kit though. Fuel flow @takeoff 40,000lb/hour/engine. Mach one on the deck 60,0000 Lb/hr/engine. Makes an M3 look rubbish. The difference is u have to pay for and maintain your car not the taxpayer. Ferrari world is a mix of adult and kids things but check out Alonso and Massa on the roller coaster on U Tube. Jesus that was fast

Update
10.6 Perth to Dunsborough (Margaret River). Peak traffic on the freeway southbound 110km limit after. XC 90 no better. Would suspect Prious slightly better but no comparison on the drive and zero overtaking ability. Kids enjoyed M3 audio. Very loud. No fighting and no eating. Xc 90 always a mess. My point fuel nit really a factor unless on the track. Kids love it. Fantasic drive any conditions. Conclusion: don't by a Prius or anything recommended by greens.
