Eurodelivery - Where to go???
so i've been doing some research on what to do. I'm flying in Thursday, picking up car on Friday and dropping car off on Monday to fly out Tuesday.
I'm thinking of going to Innsbruck, Austria, about 2.5 hours from Munich. I don't want to go too far and just want to see something cool, the mountains etc... I don't have a ton of time but just want to see as much as possible in the short weekend i'm there. Any suggestions very welcomed! Need to book my trip ASAP!!! thanks

Try this: Thurs tour Munich drink, eat, sleep. Fri early morning delivery. Drive to Fussen with a stop at Kloster Andechs monestary. Tour one castle late day and if possible the second one, stay in Fussen, enjoy the town. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andechs_AbbeySat morning tour the other castle if not done on Friday, drive to Linderhof Palace via Reutte, Ettal Abbey monestary, quick turn to Oberammergau and then continue on toward Salzburg via the Alpine roadway (Garmish, Mittenwald, Bad Tolz, Berchtesgaden)...take the back roads, avoid the A-bahn, take the day and drive along the Alps. http://www.schlosslinderhof.de/engli...ce/history.htmSunday tour Salzburg or Berchtesgaden area (Eagles nest, lake Konigssee). http://www.eagles-nest-historical-to...ex.php?navid=2Monday return via A-bahn to Munich with a stop at Herrenchiemsee. http://www.herren-chiemsee.de/ Last edited by kcdude24; 05-12-2010 at 04:14 PM.. |

I edited the map for our route based upon the above itenerary. We are doing this same drive over to Salzburg. It is about a 5.5hr leg versus 2.5hr via the A-Bahn but takes you through some very scenic areas/small towns. You could shorten the trip by taking the A-bahn for part of the way.
The total trip is about 360 miles of driving...Here is the link Here is one more route if you want Innsbruck (~370miles total driving): Thurs tour Munich drink, eat, sleep, side trip to Dachau if possible.Different route, not as much tourist type places (castles etc), more intense driving experience. Can't go wrong either way assuming good weather. Last edited by kcdude24; 05-13-2010 at 09:55 AM.. |

Thanks! MUCH appreciated! Def want to do the castles. But salzburg sounds greattoo. My buddy went to innsbruk and recommended it. But regardless I just want to see the alps a bit so Innsbruck isn't a must

I think you can park at the Welt overnight. Also you might consider arranging your trip so you don't have the car. We are flying in, taking delivery, and leaving. Coming back to Munich, we'll drop off at the HARMS and then take the u-bahn to the city center where we'll stay. This way we don't need a car and will just take the S-bahn to the airport.
You might also look in to the Munich Marriott which I believe has underground parking. This forum and this WIKI should be on your reading list. |

Not sure if Salzburg is going to work. I know it is where Mozart is from but thinking of enjoying the time in Innsbruck instead. What is so great about Salzburg vs. Innsburg? I know Salzburg is more of a city, but I figured Innsbruck is more of a smaller city with a small town feel.
This is what I have planned so far http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...64236&t=h&z=11
