I will be looking to replace my stock ps2s in the near future. I daily drive my car, and am going to mix in a couple track days here an there, but my main focus is dd.

My car has oem 19s and stock suspension with no edc (which I think is more than good enough for me).

I am looking to improve steering feel, grip and a broader/wider look.

I am considering both the re-11 and ad-08.

The re-11 is only available in stock sizes while I can get the ad-08 in 255/275.

Thoughts?

I'd go with the PSS over both of those. Sure, you will lose a little "turn in sharpness" but as a daily driver the PSS is much better.

AD08's are about a million times better than ps2's, in the dry and even in the rain! I am truly amazed by these tires.

I had the same questions a few months ago and did extensive searching to find the best tire for daily driving, some track time, reponsiveness and others that you stated. I wanted a tire that was better than the stock ps2. Well after posting and searching I finally chose the AD08 and very happy with the purchase. the tire has a square design and is wider when compared to similar brands very responsive with a solid side wall. Go for it you will not be disapointed.

I'll second Martin's recommendation. Why do you want an ultimate summer tire if you're only going to the track a couple of times per year? The PSS will be a much better "all around" tire, and last a lot longer. You realize that the AD08 is a very good tire but it's also asymmetric and unidirectional so you won't be able to rotate them side-to-side?

From what I've seen in this forum Hankook RS3 and AD08 are popular over RE11 for track ready tires.

For daily, I think PSS is the best you can get for M3.

I went from PSS to RE-11 so I know both very well. I will choose RE-11s from now on. They are better than the PSS on steering response and grip with only a small sacrifice to comfort. The big advantage is the stiffer sidewall IMO. For a heavy car like the M3, a stiff sidewall makes a big difference with much less tire roll.

If I never went to the track, I would go PSS for sure as they are better in the rain and slightly more compliant and comfortable. If you go to the track 2 or 3 times a year, the RE-11s are simply amazing. Also, IMO, a better compromise than the AD-08 as they are better in the rain, more comfortable day to day and don't give much up in dry performance. If the tires were purely dedicated track tires, then I "might" go AD-08 but even then, probably RE-11... check out the Tire Rack test.

It is true that you cannot rotate AD08 on the M3 when using the staggered sizes, but that is because they are directional (which permits front to rear rotation) and the staggered fit prevents front to rear rotation.

AD08 is not asymmetric. If it were both asymmetric and directional, they would have to make separate left and right part #'s.

i had my first wet track day on the ad08s not long ago and didnt think they were very good compared to my stock ps2s. in the dry they are the shit. my solution is to put re-11s soon on my stock wheels for winter and wet track and run the ad08s for track use and summer. my ad08s are square set so i just did a dismount and remount to switch left to right to manage wear, and can go front to back whenever. either tire is far better then the ps2s just depends how much dry vs wet matters to you.

Love AD08s on street, on track. Have only Contis and GrandAm Hoosier enduros to compare with. Obviously the GrandAm tires are stickier, but the AD08s are quite amazing on the track for a street tire.

To say AD08s are "shit" on dry pavement strikes me as a bit odd. Maybe an inflation issue?

I ran both before...

The RE11 is more heat sensitive than the AD08. On a hot track day, the RE11's compound will overheat and get greasy faster than the AD08. In street driving the RE11 is a little more quieter and less tramlining than the AD08.

It's pretty much a toss up in terms of performance, slight advantage to the AD08 for better heat handling and a stiffer sidewall for responsiveness. Street driving, the RE11 is slightly more civil...

I'd just get whichever of the two is cheaper.

One other point not to miss is weight. Comparing the AD08 v RE-11 in 265/35, the AD08 saves 3lbs per tire compared to the RE-11, and yes that does matter (and the AD08 is no lightweight itself, PSS is lighter.) When you add it all up, I find it hard not to pick the AD08 over the others mentioned here. Unbelievable dry grip, very good traction in rain (contrary to some other posts), only slightly firmer than the PSS/PS2, with the only downside to me so far being that it is slightly noisier with about 30% tread remaining.

I am not interested in running pss. I want to try something different, and would like to try an extreme performance summer tire.

Lots of mixed reviews on both tires, still unsure which way to go. I'm leaning towards ad-08 bc of availabilty in 255/275. I'd like to go a little wider on my tires, so the ad-08 with the wider width and square shoulders should help.

Right now the re-11 and ad-08 are around 1200 for all 4....

I went from the PS2 to the RE11 and I'm really happy with the tire. I went with the RE11 over the AD08 because I wanted to keep stock sizing in my 220M wheels and for this reason I would also suggest this tire for you. I did two track sessions on the PS2's and two on the RE11's and the RE11 wins hands down.

I had a thought about my poor experience with ad08s on a wet track. When I tracked first in the rain with the ps2s I was a newb and very slow and cautious and also drove with dsc on so it appeared to me that they handled great in the rain. When I drove recently on the ad08s in the wet I had mdm on and was very much quicker as indicated by my aim solo. I think the ad08s are a very decent rain tire, just not the best choice, as they are still skewed toward ultimate dry traction, which they do for sure. So it was my much improved skills that led me to wrongly think the advans were poor in the rain. I was just pushing them far harder than I ever did with the michelins.

DD use where noise/comfort matter: RE11 > AD08

Overall usability and flexibility: RE11 > AD08

For a pure dry track tire, the AD08 would have a slight advantage. For a more rounded tire that is 97.5% as good for dry track days its the RE11 IMO.
