Do you back your car in to park or pull in forward?
Wondering how many of you back it in vs pulling in forward.
There will always be times like unloading golf clubs or something where you'll have to pull in forward to access the trunk, but aside from that...majority of the time...do you pull in forward or back in? |

I do both
It's a small car, I like it parked in the middle of the stall so it gives a little room if another car needs to make a 3 point turn near my spot and enough room the other end isn't close to the wall With my trucks I 99% back it in with the hitch almost touching the wall |

Backing in is safer, because it is safer to pull forward into traffic that to back into it. I always back in

I picked "I can't drive" because for me it depends on the parking lot. Many of the lots I park in seem to have really strange parking setups, so if it's easier for me to exit the lot by backing in vs. pulling into a space I will (diagonal spaces, one way lanes, etc). Also depends on how many cars are behind me. I'm not going to be that asshole that makes a whole line of cars wait so I can back into a spot.

I back it in most times, it just seems like I know my surroundings better when I first pull in, so there is less question about what other cars are moving/coming.

I always back in at home/work. The rest of the time is probably 50/50 depending on where I am and what's most convenient.

always back in for reasons others have stated: to avoid chin spoiler worries and for better visibility upon exit.
at home always nose first so exhaust faces outward on cold start because noise and fume accumulation. |

I typically try to back in for the reasons mentioned about lower body work. Also, with my backup cam and tilt down mirror function on my 1 series, I can get close to the edge away from the next spot since I park in end spots 99.9% of the time.
In addition, to being easier to pull out when you're leaving as you have better visibility, those that have spent time overseas working in various capacities will know backing in is safer from a tactical egress stand point. If you've spent a lot of time either TDY or PCS, old habits die hard. |
