Great review. I watched a ton of videos before picking my exhaust and the most important thing that can't be conveyed in a Youtube video is the base and drone of some of these exhausts. If I had to do it over again I might have gone for the Akrapovic.

My wife used to get really mad and then I showed her that I'm a pretty good shopper and seller. I showed her the new price and the used price of the Akrapovics and got her permission. I wouldn't go so far as to say approval

My wife is from Japan..I have to wait to do big ticket items like exhaust when she goes away for a month or so to see her family. I'll just tell her the exhaust is breaking in...

Kitw,

Thanks for taking the time to do a sound clip for us, it should be very helpful to members here. Glad you love it finally after so many exhaust setups, and still managed to stay married....... hahaha

Nice write-up. Did you have all these exhausts on you 2011 M3??

I agree with most of your impressions of the Akra Evo. Particularly the built quality and the menacing but not overbearing sound. I like almost everything about mine, except maybe how you can see the smaller exhaust pipes that the tips bolt on in certain angles. That seems more pronounced on the sedan than on the coupe. Small detail though.

Considering the install, I added some heat shields on the sections of the exhaust that are next to the differential as the exhaust pipes are very close to the rubber boots. The stock exhaust actually has some metal shields welded on in that location.

Yup, I used the same Thermotec shields. They're cheap and effective. I bet it won't matter at all on a street car, but I think it was worth it anyway. The heat getting into the axles and diff couldn't help.

Agreed. I track my car quite a bit though so that was somewhat a concern to me. Can't hurt anyway.

^ personally, I don't think so. I like the Evolution system, but I was not a huge fan of the slip on, it's heavier than some of the slip ons out there, like the Vanguard and sort of flat sounding.
