Unless they fix the numb steering and ergonomic mess inside the Mustang, it only looks good on paper.
People need to stop looking at numbers (lap times, horsepower, quarter mile times etc) and go drive a car. The current 5.0 is fast but it isn't very fun to drive and there is very little communication from the chassis with the driver's inputs. Unless that's changed with the new one, it's a no-go for me. Z06 is another story. Great track day car, fun to drive but not very nice to drive every day.

Here is is on video too....completely ridiculous. From a performance stand point it lost to both cars....the comparison had nothing to do with performance. Like I mentioned its a total package car but from a performance stand point it loses...this simply proves the point. |

I have always said that beyond a certain level of absolute performance, the enjoyment of the driving experience becomes highly subjective. One is hard pressed to find a more subjectively enjoyable street car than the M3. Notice, that I said, street car not track car. Building a car that excels on a track comes at the expense of street civility. The M3 has struck this balance absolutely perfectly IMO.
In any case, since I don't race on the Nurburgring for money, I really don't care about 'ring times. The car which gives me the best overall sensory experience is the one for me. All cars will ultimately have to compromise in some areas to excel in others.

That test was such bullshit. An M3 is not even in the same league as those other 2 proper supercars, let alone "better". I'm pretty sure there aren't a lot of GTR or 911 Turbo owners thinking "Damn, I wish I had an M3 instead of this car". |

They have the M3 as having tied for best performance, tied for best handling, and it beats the other two in the engine and transmission categories.

Dude, I'm just still not sure about that rear end. I'm really dying to see one in real life to put my mind at ease.

Here's my question to you. Why did you buy an M3? And also, do you track it? Not trying to start a fight, just legitimately curious.

Need to see the rear in person also, but I like the front and side views.

Agreed. I think this is the nicest front end on a Mustang since the first gen. Something with the angle of that rear end that doesn't look right to me, and also how far the rear bumper sticks out relative to everything else.

Really? because half the comments from our loved brother M3 owners on this thread are stating performance was essentially equally weighted in winning that comparo......

As someone who has personally seen a Race Red 2015 Mustang GT at the Venice, CA showing and I have to say it was stunning. I am on my 2nd E92 M3 and I have to tell you the 2015 Mustang is going to be a force in the Coupe GT field. However, you need to wait until the GT350 comes out and later on the GT500 with a Twin Turbo Coyote V8 making close to 700hp. Those are the Stangs that are going to play with the big boys.

And referring to the overall topic of the thread, numbers only matter to a point. I personally have zero interest in ever owning a GTR, z06, mustang etc. They are just not in my taste. I dont discredit them by any means, I just dont want one. Does being a faster car make it a better car? not to me. |

sorry but it didn't "hold its own". it got totally crushed in the performance tests. the authors gave the M3 the win because of some subjective talk about the "overall package". But by the same token I can argue the M3 is better than a Veyron or Koeniggsegg Agera or Mclaren F1 because it's a better "overall package".

I find the new Mustang to be an absolutely stunning design. I love it from every angle, including the rear. I am seriously going to have to consider one of the top performing models. And if the interior sucks, I will have the money left over for a complete custom interior build.
