2011 e93 m3 or e92 m3....please help

I previously owned a MY 2009 DCT e92 m3...but my lease was up, and I decided to opt for a manual this time....I ordered a e93 m3 w/ a manual transmission, but i'm kind of iffy about getting the manual, and considering to just opt for an e92 m3 comp. package.....what do you guys feel about the e92 vs. e93 m3.....is the performance difference reallly that noticeable, and what would you guys do....remember im asking about the manual transmisson. Thanks! And please dont state go search the threads....i just want a clear cut answer, and those of you who cant do that, just dont bother responding. Thanks!

If there is a good chance you'll want to go to the track - definitely E92 ZCP. If you think there is little or no chance you'll go to a track - definitely E93. On public roads, the difference in performance is barely noticeable (yes, I've driven both) - and the top down + sound of that S65 is amazing. I get disappointed whenever I have to put the top up due to rain or cold weather!!

However, I'd bet the ZCP would be amazingly fun on the track!!

Never understood the point of the e93. Completely negates everything the m3 stands for. Get the manual too.

Whenever the M5 comes up people trash on it and call it a pig, etc. even though the M5 actually has a better power to weight ratio. Now the e93 M3 is 133 lbs. HEAVER than the M5, yet ironically all of the piggy comments seem to be missing whenever this car comes up. So yeah, anything you see about M3's "numbers" are probably just for the coupe/sedan. You're not getting the same performance by a longshot. Maybe consider something lighter and more agile, such as an M5?

I'd say the people who want a convertible are not the same people who want a performance coupe. The sacrifice in performance (which many will note is for the most part negligible for street driving) is worth it to some for the open air driving. There's clearly a very strong point for the e93 as evidenced by the sales numbers it produces and the competitors that rushed out with their own versions (infiniti g and lexus is). Is there a case for the X5M and X6M? Will have to see by the sales numbers on those as well.

Same logic applies with the manual vs DCT. Better performance for the DCT, so why would anyone get a manual? Because some people find it more enjoyable and worth the sacrifice in performance.

Depends what you're going for. All out performance? e92... you wanna look good while crusin? Well you can't go wrong with either, but the convertible will allow more people to "see" you. It's all preference, go with what makes you happy - only you know the answer to that one.

It is not an easy decision if you are like me and don't have the luxury of owning lots of different vehicles. I come from two distinct and often conflicting backgrounds.....motorcycles and track cars. The recently sold Ducati Hypermotard side of me wants the e93, and the recently sold gutted out, rollbar, coilovers, race seat, straight exhaust, track only e36 m3 side of me wants the e92 competition package for occasional track days.

I ordered the e92 comp package with the idea that I could always get another motorcycle cheaply, but if I got the vert I wouldn't have the option of hitting the track every once in a while.

For a purely street car, and with money not being a big issue, I personally would jump on the vert. Love the open air, and if you are driving hard enough to notice the difference I don't want to be in the oncoming lane.
