388 days
That's how long i've had my m3 for.
I promised my wife that I wouldn't mod the car. That was part of the bargain I made with her when she let me trade in a 1-yr old car for the m3 (as a side note, when I initially bought that original car, I told my wife that it was my dream car and that I was going to drive it into the ground.. but I digress). The first 365 days were fine. I was just so thrilled to own an M that I didn't think about wheels, suspension, carbon fibre goodies or exhausts. The last 23 days. Well they have been pure hell. All I can think about is modding the M... it's a sickness. I feel like if I don't mod it, I won't be able to move on... Anyway, just wantd to share. Sort of like opening up at an AA meeting.

I wish I could tell you the answer on how to deal with the modding disease, but I am well beyond being cured from it. I can tell you about an AA meeting though...they are located in Miami but have a local dealer in Mississauga...Bimmersport Automotive. They have seen a lot of my money!
But I am grinning ear to ear every time I get in my car or go to the track. Good luck! |

I had that need. Then I took it to a track day. I realized I have a LONG way to go before I need to mod this car (for performance at least). Short shift kit maybe.

Theres a cure for modding fever as I have been thru my whole life up untill this point.
Buy a brand new car for 37k break it in then put about 17k into it, have serious problems and ecu wont accept tunes properly then winter comes and car sits in garage for 7 months as a huge nightmare you just want gone then spring comes so you can finally ship it to a tuner 2500 miles away. Moral of story $ is only $. If you want the whole package you have to spend at least 75k Once I get my M its only getting a tune and exhaust and bbk. Done with engine internals, dual fuel systems, huge turbos, 8000ft of piping and 10mpg on a good day.

Easy. Either delete you forum account and block M3post.com on your browser.
Or just start modding like the rest of us!

hahahhahaahah. all the above posts.. so true.
this forum is killing me!!!!!!! to be honest, i'm not looking to do anything major. the car really is perfect the way it is. the only thing i want to change is the exhaust note (slip-on) and then some little pieces here and there to personalize my car. only a few things and then i'll stop. i swear!!!

OP, I hv the tendancy to trade in cars early as well. Made the same promise to my wife on the last car we had. Told her it was my dream car and I'll be driving it for at least 10yrs. 1.5 yrs later I traded it in for the M. I keep my cars on average for about 2yrs. I hv wondering eyes I tell ya. Have a feeling I'll be keeping the M for much longer then that.
