car battery died- car acting up now after jump start

my m3 was parked for a while and the battery died, i got the tow truck guy to give me a jump and it took quite a bit of juice to get it started.. i left the car on for about 30 min after the jump including a 15-20 min drive. car was fine during that time..

i turn the car off and 30 min or so later I turn it on to go somewhere and it goes into limp mode giving me error code cc id 31 .. i park the car and take the other car.. 2 hours later i come home and try the m3 again.. the error code is still there but no longer in limp mode, i took the car on a 20 min drive, drove 100% normal, hit 85+ no problem and revved fine..i get home park the car and then turn it back on again and now the error code 29 is gone but it says cc id 31! and the car is back in limp mode

my friend says it could be due to the battery not being fully "charged" but i'm a bit worried. I bought a battery charger that should come in tomorrow but in the mean time is there anything else I can try to fix it?

Thanks

Battery is probably still low. Might be too late for a trickle charger to save the day. Sometimes batteries don't come back very well.

A low battery will throw all kinds of codes. I was getting crank position sensor and abs ones thrown before i had the battery replaced.

Agree with the above. A low/bad battery will cause a ton of chaos. Happened on my M a couple of weeks ago. I was getting errors about the transmission, footwell module and more. Even after replacing the battery they didn't go away immediately. Came back to the car a few days later and all was mysteriously OK. Not complaining.

Also the battery died on my E60 last week and I saw transmission malfunction, ABS, steering wheel lock errors and on and on.

Point being, a low/weak/bad battery can throw all kinds of error messages.

Black and Decker sounds cheap to me like a Kia , but yeah..Let's hope it does a good job for your battery .

How long was it parked before you noticed the dead battery? I've left my car for 3-4 weeks and it started strong. If it was less than a month I'd say you had a weak/old battery. Driving around trying to charge a weak/old battery is not great. Alternator wasn't meant to fully charge a dead battery. I would recommend get a new battery for $200 and get it programmed by an Indy or a friend with iCarly. You will have less headache and worry this way.

hi guys- bumping this thread. so I just got a new battery put in today, the service engine soon light was on when I put the battery in and remained on after the battery install. the car is still showing the same symptoms with the new battery.. should i be concerned? I haven't had a chance to register the battery yet (going to get that done in a few days)
