The E90 is just too nice. Maybe it's not an investment like a collector car but they sure as shit are extremely desirable and maintaining their value.

I might just throw the M3 and ZHP in storage for the time I am living in the apartment. I am just mostly tossing around the idea of selling the M3 vs. keeping it. My mind is 99.9% made up on purchasing an X5 M
I haven't looked at non-M X5's compared to X5 M's in terms of depreciation, but even so... the cost of entry into an X5 M is higher, comparably and so is the maintenance. IF anything, it's a wash to compare depreciation as you're gonna get fucked by tens of thousands of dollars in the long run whether you go M or not.

And you wouldn't care about an X5 M getting dinged in a parking lot? I assume that's not true. If you REALLY want a car you're not gonna give a shit about, get a used caddy or some shit. I denno.

Have you considered an estate car (station wagon)? There are a fair number of nice ones available (MB, Audi, Cadillac CTV-S, Volvo V90) that have the space of an SUV but don't carry the handling penalty. Moreover, from someone who has 2 golden retrievers, getting dogs in and out of the tail of an SUV is easy when they are 2 years old and can make the jump up and down. But when they get to be 7 and up you may be stuck having to pick them up. I can pick up a 90 lb dog, but my wife sure can't.

I have a 2013 X5M and an 08 M3. I wouldn't buy a new X5M or any new high level SUV for that matter... they depreciate WAY too fast. (made that mistake on a 2013 Cayenne GTS and I'll never buy new again).

Get a slightly used X5M and save a bundle. Solid cars and a blast to drive.

I've decided on a 2015 with low miles as much as I like the new tech in the 2017!

I don't think you're missing too much, are you? Again, I haven't sat down and looked at them side by side. From what I gather it's full LED headlights?

2017 gets iDrive 5.0 with the touch screen which is cool. I do get an employee discount on new but it's not as significant as a 2 year old car with some miles on it.

I am for sure looking to have the full leather, night vision, Executive package and B&O which the 2015 in question has all of those

Posts thread titled "What are your thoughts?"

Everyone tells him not to get a nearly new X5M.

Less than 48 hours later, set on getting a nearly new X5M.

A+ thread.

I sold my M3 to buy an X5 before. If your needs change, just do it. Sure the M3 might be a collectors car 20 or 30 years from now but the amount of money you will spend keeping it around will not make sense even if it's worth 100k in the future.

It will take a while for the M3 to really become a collectors car - it may hold value but not really appreciate greatly.

If you're looking for a car to occasionally drive and hold great value, sell the M3 and ZHP to get a PCar and get a standard X5 as a daily.

So absolutely not worth going new in this case then.

I mean... Why not dd your E90 like a lot of us do? You probably won't make money from this "investment" anyways, just enjoy it!

Because i don't have to drive it everyday and I really don't want to. I might just keep my M3 and ZHP and throw them in a storage for a few years until I get back to living in a house again with a 3 stall garage.

I'm 100% sold on an X5 M now. I'm trying to work a deal on a silverstone 2015 now with only 6k miles on it.

I sold my E90 M3 for a new SQ5. Love the SQ for an SUV but regret letting the M go every single day. At least the Audi was only $60k. You're talking about $80-100k.

The last gen x5m was way more fun than any suv has a right to be. I assume the new one is even better. It's an awesome suv, which I can totally see the appeal of.

My wife now drives a 2015 q5 3.0t with all the sport package options and it drives real well, but despite being way lighter than the x5m, drives no where near as well. The x5m are great cars

For me, I couldn't give up a sportier car like an m3 for an x5m, but I could damn sure own both.

But, if you need the space, you can't go wrong.

That said, I'd spend less on the x5m, even a prior gen which is still incredible, and maintain the m3 or some form of sports car.

You can get a prior gen with low miles for under 50k. That's where the value is. And for a slightly less sporty car that is built just as well, we got our loaded q5 for under 40k with 12000 miles
