parking brake change..

my vehicle had weird sounds from the rear like steel hits the other steel..

so today morning, I left it to the local dealership( San Francisco).

After an hour they called me then they told me that it's from parking brake.

and they said, I gotta pay for it ($470) but I have warranty untill 2014

Is it fair? I don't know why I have to pay for it...

Hmmmmmmmmmmm....maybe they think you've been using the hand brake to drift? Might want to ask for clarification since it is under warranty. Probably the first thing everyone here would have done....

bull shit... i know some guys that tracks the car and was able to replace brakes or what ever issues that comes up as long as your in warranty...

if its making some noise i dont see why you have to pay...

unless they actually determined that it was your fault but thats going to be hard to proved..

i usually would say call BMW USA and escalate it but THOSE FAWKERs will say you have the option to bring it to another dealer...

since then i do everything myself...

Hi, I know this thread is old but someone might need some info.

I had same issue, and for me it was due to using ebrake while drifting. lol

Nothing was broken inside when I took all the parts off and try to change e brake sue.

The cowbell noise was coming from the back plate of brake. it was bend inside little bit.

after I made that flat, the sound was gone!!
