Tranmission Error??

UPDATE:

As expected, stealership said it was a fluke code. Their "instructions" say to flash it, then let it sleep for 24 hours to see if it happens again. Of course, no loaners so I decided not to leave it. As a consolation, cool service rep gave me a free alignment (my alignment was fine, wheel was a bit off center since deliver).

Anyway...if it comes up again...I will take a picture. Thanks for everyones replies...

Received a transmission error via the iDrive this afternoon. No reduced power, just told me to take the vehicle in to the dealership. Turned the car off and back on and did not receive the error again. Drove the car in both "regular mode", basic settings and MDrive and everything seemed fine.

The car has 2800 miles on it. 1200 mile service was done on time. I drive the car very moderately for the most part, typically only driving aggressively for short periods of time three to four times a week. I drive so moderately that I get just under 19 mpg.

Anyone experienced anything like this? This was not the DCT software error that caused a million and one notifications.

Sorry I didn't take a picture...

Any insight would be appreciated...

The car was parked all day. I got in the car, hit the start button and bam, there was the error. I briefly looked at it....and it said something to effect of transmission error, you can continue to drive but take in for service. I am so used to hitting the accept button on the iDrive I hit ok and it cleared the error.

I am currently at 2894 miles, got the 1200 mile service done at 1269. Car has run perfectly and still seems to be running perfectly. No power reduction, no errors, iDrive shows no issues....

Could it be that I did not have the P-Brake on while parked? I usually put it on, but today I think I forgot....not sure.

Just take it in to the dealer. They can pull the codes and see what it was. It could be just a fluke, but why risk it?

I would take it to the dealer if i was you. I wouldn't be able to sleep without knowing why this happened.

I had a tranny error on my i-Drive. BMW Saudi Arabia Changed my DCT fluid. Those days in my life were just a huge headache.

Take it to the dealer and let us know what happens.

If you want the headache like Saudi Arabia, bring it in. My suggestion is to drive it harder. Don't go nuts, warm it up, but these cars run better when they're used the way they were bread. Seriously, run harder and you're car runs better. And don't ever go to the stealership unless you have to. Read on.

I had my transmission malfunction too at less than 2k. Happened after starting car & shifting in reverse. Fixed by the dealer with the software update. You can see the error message again if you like by running a vehicle status report on your idrive. Still it'll be an easy fix for the dealer.

That actually happened to my car too at about 7800 miles and mine was a recall part and some valve needed to be replaced in front portion of the engine...thats what the service advisor had told me. My car was always sitting parked because my car had gotten broke into so i couldnt even drive it! But then again, ever car is different hopefully nothing major!

I had an overheating issue that was initially just reset by the dealer as a random fault. They eventually replaced my DCT Transmission at 2800 miles. I read somewhere where there was about 100 transmissions that had bad valving that caused the overheating.
