Akra slip on with different brand X Pipe
Hi Guys,
I know there is a ton of discussions on the Akra systems, but during a search I couldn't find many people running the Akra slip on with a different brand of X pipe. I have a Gintani HFC cross pipe (option of catless also) and I'm looking at the Akra slip on to pair with it. I want something louder than stock, but nothing as loud as a Eisennmann Race or Meisterschaft etc And I would like something with an exotic type sound. So, is there anyone running something similar to this type of set up? Will it be too quiet? Any advice greatly appreciated! |

I am running the Challenge Engineering "Street" X-pipe with the Akra Slip-on and have for two years. Little if any drone, nice classy sound enhancement without being too loud. I still have cold start enabled so it is louder than the already loud Akra with OEM mid-pipe.
For me this was a natural way to go as State Vehicle Inspection is strict where I am and this allows me to pass without the delete-r needed for the EVO as this does not remove the primary CATs. Bear in mind this setup gets a little louder after break-in than on initial install. Here is a thread that may interest you: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=649995

I am running the primary CATs but the Challenge Street replaces the secondaries. Sorry I do not have any sound clips.

I ran the Akra with the Challenge street x pipe. The sound was great. I believe this time around I am going to run the xpipe with the challenge sport.

I was going to start my own thread but will post here first....
Currently I have a Akra FULL EVO system, at first I was worried it might be too loud but now that I have it, even my kid doesn't notice the change. I went from a slip-on then added the X-pipe section. My main goal was more throaty sound and deeper but the pitch has not changed that much surprisingly. I like the sound of my IS-F with the Joe-Z and my buddy's S4 has the JHM Motorsport has a similar low end rumble. My m3 with the full EVO does not sound like neither of the above cars. So I'm looking to swap out my Akra mid-pipe section for something louder now as well so this thread sorta is what I'm looking to do. Looking for a deeper throaty sound. I'm trying to avoid swapping the Akra slip-on section since I really like the look and weight savings. I know the RPI is a deeper sound as I had it on my last e93 but trying to keep the Akra on this one. (I want more rumble, not more volume if that makes sense ~ don't like high pitch exhausts) P.S. here's the JoeZ on the IS-F: thanks

Great video, what a beast.
There is no denying that the Akra sounds great, it's just the mixed opinion of wether it's loud enough that has me indecisive. Being here in Australia, it's hard to find someone with an M3, let alone an M3 with an Akra! |
