Exhaust, what to do, want advice

I know there's a couple threads here about exhaust, but I really want some more opinions. It seems to be such an inexpensive option to just get a Megan Racing Axle back, a Supersprint x-pipe, and an aFe Stake II intake: this setup seems as if it would add some power, but what I'm more interested in is the sound. From the videos I've seen of the Megan exhaust, it doesn't seem that different from stock. I'd LOVE it if someone could convince me otherwise from real life experience with the exhaust and just make up my mind. That whole set up would be ~$1500-$1750.

However, I keep going back to the videos of Gintani's full race exhuast and the Meisterschaft GT2 rear. I love the sound of both, but Gintani would be ~$4000 for the full system, and the Meisterschaft would be ~$4200 for the full system.

If anybody has any insight, please tell me your thoughts. Would the first setup I mentioned provide any similar sound or performance to either of the others I mentioned. Or is it really just apples to oranges. I mean if I could do that first set up and get what I'm looking for out of it, that's $2500 left over for other things I'd like to do.

Yeah, no patience. After listening to countless videos and reading countless posts, I really think I wouldn't be happy without that Gintani Race. I guess I could start there and build upon that.

I was hoping to get some feedback from anyone that has actually heard the Megan exhaust in person.

The Megan sounds pretty good to me. At high speeds your hear the motor more. I am quite satisfied for what I paid as an axle back is essentially a sound mod.

Get the Gintani axle back exhaust or other wise you will be disappointed if that is what you have your heart set on. That will tide you over until you save up for the X-Pipe and the tune. It will be cheaper to get what you want than to put something on then have to try and sell it later to get what you wanted in the first place.

Thanks, this is the conclusion I have come to as well. I'd always wonder what could have been with the more expensive mod, and end up, like you said, having to sell the first one I bought and end up buying the second one, costing more money in the end.

Sport vs. Race has become the new question, I've heard that the Gintani race is incredibly loud on its own, but even moreso with an x-pipe.

ha, I want to! Just don't want to get annoyed down the road, especially if I add an x-pipe.

if an x-pipe is in your future, I'd strongly urge you to consider the sport. I'm paying through the nose for a new exhaust right now for that same mistake.

I can tell you from experience that the Megan Racing system does and doesn't not sound stock. I just have the rear axle-back system. After 4.5K the stock tone comes back to life. Anywhere under 4.5K it sounds completely different from stock, you get a unmistakable V8 growl. It's the perfect thing for me and I was surprised after I installed it in how good it sounds.

Until I had my father in the car and was keeping it under 3K driving with the music off I realized how much louder this system is from the stock system. Hopefully before MFest I can get my hands on the X-pipe that Megan Racing's working on which would give even more power & an even menacing tone.

This was the alternative set-up I had planned (other than the Gintani Race rear only) that would actually give better performance. However, I emailed Megan and they claim they don't have an x-pipe in the works for the E92.

Obviously there are other x-pipes, but I figured theirs would be pretty inexpensive like the exhaust. Thank you for answering my question about the megan exhaust

That's surprising to hear. I heard from even some vendors on here that Megan was cooking an x-pipe up for the E92. Maybe they abandoned the project..

And I'm in the same boat as you. I really would like the Gintani race, but I know I will pair it with an x-pipe in the future and heard that's incredibly loud and has considerable drone.

I might just wait a little extra time and do the Sport full system.

Actually, what am I talking about, I just want the race right now.

See that's how i feel. I feel like if you aren't planning to delete cats or get an x-pipe, then a Race would be great by itself. But if you are planning in the future for everything the Sport makes more sense..

If it's a DD then deff the sport. I only drive my M on the weekends so I'm prob doing a race with cat deletes on my stock xpipe. I almost went with the Megan but I would rather spend the money and get what I really want.

That's what I'm thinking... the Megan seems like more of a "quick fix" to satisfy my lack of patience. As is going with a rear only exhaust. It is more of a daily driver which leads me to believing a sport system is much more practical.
