Dealer site is better and more up to date. Our site can be a few days behind.

Agreed - keep checking the website - it will change - and call the phone number multiple times a day (like all the rest of us with a car on the way!)

I worry only because i sold my car and am using a friends extra until mine gets here. I told him late june and its getting down to the wire for production and shipping. Has anyone had the website go from waiting for production to done without update?

I had to wait 84 days from the day I ordered the car to the day I received it. I'm sure it's fine. There is some lag on the BMW website. Call your dealer to make sure they ordered it if your concerned.

BTW I'm a former B7 RS4 owner too. Welcome to the forum. You made a good decision.

BMW website said my car was at port awaiting transport the day I took delivery. Use the 800 #, much more accurate.

Have the dealer print out the status sheet for your car - it will show where you are in the process and is the best and most accurate information you can get. My CA printed it out and emailed it to me every couple of days yours can do the same thing

It goes quick once production actually starts - the dealer status report will show exactly what is what and if you truly are in production as opposed to scheduled for production. Look at my thread http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=831321
it will let you know the steps the car goes through and an idea of the timing of the different steps

FYI- you may have a production number and your dealer may have an allocation, but that doesn't mean your car is "under production".

your dealer may have misspoke. you can only see something on the BMW website once you have a VIN#, and that happens when the car is close or actually being built. that could be days or months from the time you "build" your car.

i put my deposit down in march and my car won't be built until week 25, the last week of may. that's how long my wait is.

bottom line is not to worry, just get your dealer to get you the build date or week.

I believe you can use a production number on the web site until the VIN number is established.

As I remember mine was started the week that the dealer said it would be, and there was two or three steps at the factory, then to the shipper and not much after that on the web site or the 800 number. Dealer was a couple of days ahead every time I checked with him.

That waiting is a killer. Maybe it would be better not knowing. Nah.

Others have said this on other threads but it bears repeating - don't bother with the BMW USA website for build status and updates. Same as with White 13, my dealer had better info than the 800 number and the 800 number representatives -told me check with the dealer they have the best info. You never know - you might get moved up. I had a production week of May 20th, but it went into production on April 30 and was shipped on May 9th. Have no idea how that happened - but of course was very happy it jumped 2 weeks.

+1, also once the car is loaded onto the ship, don't forget to cyber stalk the ship on martime tracker apps, and meet it as it passes under the bridge at your local port.

Insist on seeing a copy of the vehicle status report. It will show you exactly what is going on with your car. My CA sent me a copy every Friday

we may be in the same boat. i told you before that my car was to be built the last week of may, but on Friday i just found out that it will be mid june now. production pushed back 2 weeks.

is yours an individual order? may or may not matter, but i was told due to BMW's last screw up on that now infamous individual order they are now double checking everything. seeing how most of the orders towards the end of this production seem to be custom ones, that's the reason for the delay.

so, i'm told.

I wish we were ON the same boat! I'm not sure if mine is considered an individual order or not. Space grey, Comp, premium, winter, dual clutch, and don't laugh now, sun roof! I'm told carbon extras I ordered are done at port. I'm getting frustrated.

OP, has your status updated on the website/phone yet? You ordered 4/16 right? I ordered 5/6 and the website still says that it's awaiting production. The last email from my CA said that it should be done by the 23rd week which is supposed to be the first week of June. This wait is absolutely horrible.

On another note, you're from Chicago too? Prior to the last couple days of rain, i've been yearning to have a nice shining new M3 to cruise around.

I don't mean to b the turd in the punch bowl but I don't think your going to see any change in status for a while. Mine still says no prod date. I've been waiting patiently since April 20, that the date my info showed up on the website and status has not changed since.

I am from Chicago area and Agee it would b nice to be able to cruise around in new M. Keep in touch and let me know if/when your status changes.

"individual" simply means custom color, interior and/or trim. looks like that's not you, but you may have been affected by the delay nonetheless.

at this point, your dealer should be able to give you a straight answer about a production date. ask them today, and keep us posted.
