yeah its normal though. My car is a bit fucked up to, which reminds me... I need to remind Derek to pull my hood in line properly. It doesnt bother me anymore.... Was a real eyesore for the first 3 weeks for sure but I quickly forgot about it once I became consumed in ordering parts to mod it.

Dealer will fix it, its no big deal really. Have no worries op.

I'm with you I would be pissed after spending so much, but that being said it is an easy fix and you will forget about it shortly and continue to enjoy the m3 for a long time. Have fun with it and forget about it.

I assume this is a joke. But, it's threads like this that make me wonder why anyone would want to be in the car business, and thankful for the few who are willing to deal with the public. Yes, the car should have been assembled better, but stuff happens. Any body shop worthy of the name can fix it in 30 minutes. Relax.
Stuff happens? Stuff doesn't happen to everyone that replied to this thread. If it was one in a million then we could call it "stuff happens".

For everyone saying that it was damaged during shipping, this stuff is taken care of at the port. So obviously they saw no damage to repair and it came like this from the factory.

My 1st car was damaged in transit...fixed at the VPC...and it showed up at the dealer looking like shit. It had a run in the paint...piece of trim sticking up...over spray in the door jam...the door didn't close properly.
Quality control at the VPC is lacking.

It very well may have left the factory just fine.

Don't be ridiculous man.

OP, it's the hood that is misaligned. Not a big deal at all on the fix, which I could do in 5 minutes, but I REALLY doubt it left the factory like that. My guess is the hood was removed for some reason and not put back properly, but could be wrong. You can easily tell by looking at the bolts, and the paint around them. If you see any indication of tampering, I'd push dealer to tell me what happened to the car. Also look all around the hood for evidence of a respray (or non-factory spray). If you find nothing, I'd just fix it myself. As it was previously said, panels are not perfectly aligned nor adjusted from the factory. My hood was too low on one side, and too high on the other. Took me 10 minutes of fiddling with it, and left it perfect. No dealer guy will do it as careful as you, so why even waste your time to take it there, wait, then come back, and maybe find it was scratched, or not perfectly fixed? Your call man. Good luck.

In any case, it's easily repaired so hopefully for the OP it won't be an issue for much longer.
Bingo! The dealer should have never let it get to the customer that way. I picked mine up from the PDC and the inspector found a tiny nick in the clear coat (from transportation I'm sure). He pointed out to me and called the dealer. When I can into the dealer for first service they agreed to repair it at no cost.

Car shouldn't come like this to begin with. 70k car. It's unacceptable. There doesn't seem to be any quality control going on as of late.
What if I spent close to 80? Then how mad should I be? Lol

Dude, you have a Ferrari California and you really wonder about the alignment of your plastic M3 fender? It is a new car and it is entirely possible the fender settled wrong. Not to mention, the misalignment is not tragic - I didn't even notice the issue from the first pic.

I'm beginning to feel like I've been gyped. I have an '08 335i Coupe and '11 M3 and both hoods fit perfectly. I feel so not part of the group.

How does it drive? Sorry the misalignment bothers you. My hood doesn't latch on both sides very easily, but I've noticed when I'm driving ity faster than I feel comfortable I don't think about it. Have some fun.

GUYS, I left the dealer with the car entirely FINE. I looked very close to the head lights and fenders. It was completely normal. I took a pic at gas station after half a tank. You can already see the fenders or whatever isn't normal. Look carefully on the driver's side. It wasn't like this when I left the dealership.

ZOOM IN the pic and you will know what I am talking about.

This is not the way it left the factory I am convinced of it. Something happened during loading or unloading your car, people push them around. If some of the screws were not exactly tight then it went out of alignment when some one pushed the car (taking hold of the fender).

Should be an easy adjustment by the dealer.

The entire lineup of E9* cars, including the M3's suffer from hood/fender misalignment. It's nothing new, but it's usually an easy fix.

Seeems like BMW never could figure out how to align the fenders properly with the hood.

But you are right, whether its a 328 or the M3, there really is no excuse.
