Falken Azensis RT-615

Anyone on the board here tried the Falken Azensis RT-615 tire for both street and occasional track use? I've heard good things..

Yeah, they are good but just as harsh as Advan Neova's or maybe even harsher. They are definitely harsher than Bridgestone RE-01R's and RE-11's. They also heat cycle out before the tread is gone (i.e. the compound gets hard and worse than OEM PS2's by the time the tread is at half life).

Just like the rest of the ultra sticky tires, they are decent for track use but there are many better choices for a car that spends 98% of its life on the street.

These would be dedicated for track use...with the exception of driving to the track (200 miles)

They are kind of an old tire. The RE-11's, AD08's, Star Specs, will all perform better than the 615's at the track while being better in the rain. The only thing I like about the 615's is that they are cheap.

I don't think the 615's are a good tire for the M3 IMO but since you just want them for dedicated track use, and plan to burn up tires quickly these would probably save a lot of money in the long run.

Thanks Harris. Yea, the price was what was making me take a second look at them. It sounds like they have a pretty good wear rating compared to some of the others. Heck, who knows...I was leaning towards the Nitto NT01 tire...but thought I'd take a second look at some other lower cost alternatives (but maybe sacrificing a little track performance). I'll have to check into the Star Specs...heard those are a pretty good compromise as well.

RT615's suck balls on the track. They are decent for autocross but on the track they heat up after 2 laps and become way too greasy. I am itching to try out the Dunlop StarSpec's tho. They only have nothing but rave reviews. Im running AD08s on my volks right now and I love them much more than the RE-11s.

Falken recently launched the new 615K, which is supposed to be a lot better than the regular 615's. The tread pattern and construction is still the same, but I guess the compound is brand new.

I found more here: http://www.falkentire.com/News/-FALK...E-COMPOUND-118

Anyone have feedback on these yet???

Why more than the RE-11s?

I liked the way they felt much more on and off the track.
I can't say for rain tho, it never rains in SoCal and you shouldn't be driving on semi-slicks in the rain either.

Mind you I have about 15-20 track days under my belt and a few auto-x and I had 3 events on the AD08 and 2 on the RE-11. Without a doubt I liked the AD08s and thats why I still have them for my volks.
