Track day car for a M3 owner

As a M3 owner, I don't want to tear off the luxury of a M3 and will like to have a weekend track car.
If I buy a new Chevrolet Camaro 2SS for track day, I can modify .....

Am I make a big mistake?

Yes!Too heavy and less suited to track use than a lot of other vehicles. If it is going to be a dedicated track car, look for an semi current race car that has all the proper safety stuff already in it.There are some great deals out there right now.

Here is another way to go.Put a mild "crate" motor with under 450 hp that runs on pump gas and would very reliable and quite quick compared to any street car.Very safe also.

Gearhead999s,
Thanks! You are always the best. Problem resolved.

I already have a 10 years old Carrera and 8 years old Mercedes which I both bought brand new and my wife don't allow me to turn them into trackcar.
Any new car to choose?

Or living so close to Ottawa & Calabogie why not just get involved with the Mustang program at the track.Car is always ready and keeping it running is taken care for you.At the price they charge you does not cover the costs of running my M3 around the track. They also have a program where you have fractional ownership & own the car after 3 years. They are very good people up there and I intend to be up there much more next year than I have been the last couple of years.I love that Place

ALM3 rented one when we were there in October and can vouch for how good this program is.

I am going to take your advise for Calabogie's Mustang program for a season.
If advance driving is suitable for me, I will take it serious.

I think that is probally a smart move.Living in Ottawa definatly would also help make this decision easier and you will have way too much fun

+1 and you dont have to worry about trailering a car and the costs associated with that if you a track car that is not street legal. I think they have a great little program going there and it sounds like they are going to continue to develop it!
