+1 to everyone's comments, never could say that before this. Don't be that guy. Also, you do realize racing up behind people and tailgating them just shoots up debris from their rear that just chips your car?!?

I feel like I'm in some other world . . .
Almost every person that I've ridden with in a high-performance car (M3, M5, 911) has not hesitated to let me know what the car can do (and yes, I'm talking about professional folks). They call it spirited driving. The BMW salesman who sold me the M3 certainly revved the car while he was driving it on the lot, off the lot, and around city streets. He's an award-winning salesman who's been selling cars for 25+ years so I wouldn't consider him an idiot. When I test drove a Porsche the salesperson applied a WOT on a test drive and encouraged me to do likewise (which I was reluctant to do). As for me, I'm admit that impatience for slow drivers in the fast lane is something that I need to work on. But as far as revs, I'm just talking about one or perhaps two revs to 1500 rpm. I don't think that makes me the worst person in the world.

How is what I have described immature? What about the forum members who mod out their cars (e.g., spending $4K on an exhaust which wakes up the neighborhood)? Are they immature?

Tailgating and revving the car at stoplights is pretty damn immature. Buying a $4k exhaust is not.

I don't think anyone is saying you can't or shouldn't be enjoying your car in a spirited manner. Wanting to go WOT and hear the engine is a normal part of owning a car like an M3. I'd say there was something wrong with you if you didn't. Every performance car I've owned with a manual transmission, I love to blip the throttle and rev-match on downshifts. Sounds way better than a neutral rev and actually serves a purpose some of the time. Revving the engine in neutral at a stoplight or gas station does seem like a little much to even me, though. It's something I would have done when I was 18 or 19. If I want to hear my engine these days, I find an open stretch of road and let it rip. I hate left lane blockers, too. I don't think there is anything wrong with passing on the right if someone is determined to stay in the left lane when it's obvious you want to pass. That's America, though.
