EXTREMELY farfetched question!

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
Is it possible to swap out a 6 speed tranny for a 7 speed DCT tranny? Or even, can you swap a 6 speed setup up for a DCT setup?

Please no criticism, just a question

Impossible.

Seriously...anything is possible given enough time and money.

I'm sure it's possible but not worth it.
I think a trading 6 speed M3 and buying a M3 with DCT will cost less (money and hassle) than physical swap.

First - wrong section of the forum. Second - anything is possible given $$ but how far are you going with modding? If your installing a supercharger and voiding the warranty and you have access to a DCT tranny for a good price, then go for it! If your keeping the car N/A its much cheaper and less of a headache to trade your car in and find a CPO DCT. That's what I did...

Thanks for all your inputs guys! Like I said, Im just asking a question..

What do you mean you traded yours for a CPO DCT M3? My car is on a lease, I have 24 months to go with about 15k miles on it.. where would I be able to trade my car for a DCT?

Dont get me wrong, I love the 6 speed, but I can use a change.. idk..

CPO meaning Certified Pre Owned. you can go to bmwusa.com and look up used m3's equipped with DCT, go to that dealer and trade your car in. honestly like what other people said, its probably less money, headache, and time to just trade it in then swap it out... good luck

I've gone through so many BMW leases. I usually have good luck with putting it on swapalease.com and have someone else take over the lease if you have a reasonably good monthly payment. Or you can always try selling it to Carmax if you can at least walk away from it without having to pay a large difference depending on what you owe as balance. I've had to pay $1200 once on a car, but I thought it was worth since I could just walk away and start over.
