a potential scam?

i just put my car up for sale on autotrader this tuesday night and a guy called me on thursday, asked the usual questions etc. and whatnot.
now here's the interesting part:

1. he lives in IN and asked to meet up @ the infiniti dealership on saturday
2. yesterday he asked for my full name and car's VIN # to verify on carfax
3. couple of mins later he said he'll be coming down this morning with a cashier's check
4. i asked him if he can arrive by 9am so we can finish the transaction at the bank
5. he said yes and he already has the cashier's check ready; cashier's check is from national city
6. he wants to take the car for a test drive after diagnostics, which he said he would pay for
7. i could barely understand what he was saying the whole time we were talking on the phone; he sounds like a junkie/white trash

i just woke up and saw a few missed calls from him....decided to stand him up, dont really care if its my fault or not but it sounds too good to be true for me, what do you guys think? i specifically told him i dont want cashier's check as a form of payment and i'd prefer cash but he said he would not sh*t around with me...
and would any of you be so desperate for a car that you have the payment ready even when you have not seen the car in person at all?!
i gave him my address too, which is a big mistake on my part

thankfully my car is always garaged and there's 3 more cars outside blocking the way out every day
need your input guys

i think you giving him too much info about yourself. desperate maybe your car is worth more than what you listed. just becareful

Just so you know, casher checks and be faked and your bank has no way to verify it immediately without calling the bank office it was drawn on. If you want to verify the check you have to call the branch office the check was processed at and have them verify it. Do not let the guy give you their number look up the branch yourself.

We all want to deal in cash when we can, but I'll tell you if the amount is high enough, I am cutting a check, no way I am walking around with large sums of cash in hand these days.

Hell Dealership will not take cash over $10k these days due to the hassle to having to verify the real source of the cash.

update...well my car was sold to him yesterday...he was legit and we went to national city bank (his bank) to verify the cashier's check and called his branch...both banks verified it was a good check but i opened up an account there yesterday just to be safe, cashed out $10k from his check and left the remainder in my account...i should be safe...hopefully
i also have his copy of driver's license just in case....
more sad new is that i'm going back to my home country soon

well as long as u have the money... and u have his license... so if shady crap goes down find him and beat him down & then take whats yours.
