Thread Updated

Hey Everyone,

I updated our thread. So our final two meeting points will be OAKVILLE (BRONTE GO STATION) or AJAX (AJAX GO STATION).

For peeps who previously signed up for the Toronto meeting spot, I've bumped you over to AJAX.

If you haven't replied with where you plan on meeting up, (either oakville or ajax), please let me know by Friday May 4th!

Anyone else is planning to go to the Ajax GO Station Position "A" on the map below?

In my opinion leaving from Ajax GO Station in a group will be less stressful trying to stay together in a group with others due to GTA morning traffic. Why don't we make this our final meeting place and set a departure time between 11:00 and 11:15 Hours so no one get's left behind and we can proceed from here as a group altogether, any thought's?

9 Days to go
Rush hour shouldn't really be a problem on a sat @ 9-10 am but there will still be more traffic in the city then meeting in the burbs. I think everyone is cool for meeting in Ajax instead of Toronto since it is on the way so meeting points have been updated!

Just over a week to go!!!!

+1 on that... Fairview Mall will be a nightmare getting in and out of on a Saturday.. there are usually huge lineups just getting into and out of the parking lots. So Ajax Go it is then.. what time are people arriving.. 10:30am sounds good if departure is 11:15am?

Can I suggest that those of you who have FRS radios bring them along? That way we can all communicate while driving...

I have about 4 of them so I can and lend some out (bring your own AA batteries, each takes 3).

Has a final route been posted? If not, is the plan to take the 401 all the way to Trenton? Might be nicer to get off the 401 a bit earlier and drive along the smaller roads near the lake instead. For example, we could get off at Grafton and then follow Country Road 2 to Brighton, then take 64 for Carrying Place. This would have the added benefit of bypassing Trenton, which would help us stay together. Trenton has a lot of traffic and lights, it will be hard to stay as a group going through that city...

Here is the route I'm proposing...

Saweet Mike, I've always wanted one, but never had an opportunity; I'm getting one tomorrow from CT. Hope with works with yours.. JIC that doesn't work; I have gained telepathic skillz from my marriage.

Mike, the route looks good to me. Once at Carring Place the scenary really starts to look good!

I'll borrow one of your FRS radios if they aren't already called for. I'll bring 6 AA batteries (I have no idea how much juice these things use).

With 10+ cars I assume this will be a slow scenic drive. There are some but not many twisty roads in the area, and likely they will be full of slow moving tourists visiting vineyards and other such things. I'm bringing the girlfriend and we plan to stay overnight in the area to make the most of this trip. There are some nice twisty roads north of Trenton which I may attack on Sunday before heading home.

If you want twisty roads and a fast pace, we can't stay together as a tight group.. each driver would need a GPS with preprogrammed route or printed directions so everyone knows where they are going, and walkie talkies are a huge bonus. I can organize such an adventure for those interested... let me know or let's discuss on Saturday.

How much are these things? Do I need to do anything with them before i get to the meet? I'm a total n00b when it comes to these radios, but would like to invest in a pair as I've figured out I love driving meets.

I would LOVE to stay over and do twisties Sunday, but likely won't be able to.

Hope you plan more in the future. With a bit more advance notice, I'd gladly sign up. Thanks for the route!

And thanks again RO Turbo.

I got mine today from crappytire for a deal Motorola 43 KM GMRS Personal Radios ; there are inexpensives ones as well, but i figure the less they cost, the lower the range and features; for now you simply need to know how to turn it on/off; and how to set a channel (Something M3-Mike will let us know when we meet at Ajax); there are other advanced features, but you will figure it out as you go. I havent been on any cruises in all the car forums i've joined, so imma a n00b as well. I figure I could use this when i go cottaging or camping or other long road trips with my famjam and there is no cell phone coverage.

and now ladies and gentleman..for your weather forecast;

Does anyone have any suggestions on where we could park around Sandbanks provincial park to take a nice group picture? (ie. a nice parking lot with a view?) Sandbanks is really beautiful but many of the roads inside the park are not M3 friendly (not paved and quite bumpy).

Maybe Salmon Point? ... but I haven't been there in a while.
