This is something I want to do in the future.

Do they allow a guest to come along? I would want to bring my wife with me if I ever do it.

Thank you!

My wife is not interested in driving anyways. So lounging around would be okay, I think.

Are these 2 school days the option named "M Driver's package" ?

In Switzerland, we have an option "M Driver's package" (3'690 CHF.- / 3918 $)

- driving lesson with instructor
- speed up to 250 km/h

Awesome!! I'm booked for the September 13-15 class (recovering from foot surgery presently), and am on standby in case slots open up in late May. Heard it is a BLAST! I grew up in Greenville, SC so it's a nice opportunity to see family for a few days as well.

it is a great time! I hope they have all of the give-aways that they had when I went. We got a Snell SA-2005 helmet, 2 jackets, polo shirt, duffel bag, hat, t-shirts, and key chains.
Add to that a coupe of nights in a good hotel, meals, and it is well worth it.

They don't let you turn off the traction control too often, but the instructors are awesome. They have radios to call out your mistakes, and they don't seem to miss much.

Make sure you do a factory tour. The assembly process is cool!! (X5/X6 I think is in SC right now)

Good luck and I hope you get to the top of the "leader board"!!!!

My gf got me 2 day m school for xmas and I was thinking of going in Sept as I am also recovering from ankle surgery - or at least will be shortly. Waiting to find out recovery details on my ankle before I book a date. Can't wait though, that's for sure.

I would have to agree. Visibility was much better in the M5 too! In all fairness though, the M5/3's were used on more parts of the track, while the M6 was just used on the first 'braking' exercise and the small 'figure 8' course. The Z4M was just removed out of the rotation went I went, but I had already owned that car and was more interested the M5/6 and the DCT M3(I had 6MT).

OP, you are gonna love it!

I've been thinking of going for this as well. However..I feel like HPDE events are heck of a lot more fun and you get to explore your cars limits and see what adjustments are necessary.

Granted-the 2 M School package provides their cars, gas, insurance, accessories and hotel stay BUT-$3000 could get me new set of ARC8s, $$$ for gas, track insurance and of course..spare set of tires.

Plus having done PCD, I've done my share of track time there. I'd rather head down to VIR and get some laps in there.

Have Fun Man..

All very true.

OP, since you have a BMWCCA membership you should look into the BMWCCA VIR event in mid Feb. You will get a LOT more track time, great classroom instruction and drive on a much larger track. You'll also get paired up with an in car instructor for the weekend. The best part is the price....$399 plus lodging at or near VIR. I've done both and while it is nice to drive a car that is not yours, what you will learn in your own car is much more valuable. I will be there again in Feb, July and Aug.

I wanted to go to ///M school to get some good instruction, and NOT use my car...haha. I have never been to the track other than one time at a drag strip and felt good instruction was in order.

Where as people usually spend their money on modding thier cars, I have been saving mine for this 2 day M school. Plus i'm not really a heavy Mod guy anyways. Different priorities I guess.

But yes, when i finish M school, i'll likely venture out to local track events to test what I learned at M school

HPDE track days have different laps for novices, intermediate and advanced drivers. They offer ample instruction for newbies. When you drive different cars at the M school;it doesn't give you enough exposure to a car similar to the one you own. If anything- I would take it as a pre-course to buying a new M.

So I'd rather pay 3K to drive someone else's car, not worry about insurance, learn the ropes with other people in the same situation, and get some focused experience and education so I don't show up in front of a bunch of more experienced people as a total newbie in my M3.

EDIT: It also includes meals and accommodations. So lodging, food, cars to drive, insurance, not wrecking your own car, and skilled education targeted towards your (entry) skill level. Well worth 3K I think. It'd be cool if they had a "couples" package at some sort of reduced price, I'd love to drive down to SC and do this with my gf.

EDIT EDIT: Also includes M branded polo, gear bag and jacket and custom painted M School helmet. So pretty much the best deal ever.

to each his own...you have fun at HPDE and i'll have fun at M school

Besides, i'm a novice, and as others mentioned, its a good place to start for beginners and is where I don't have to risk using my car.

I realize HPDE is cheaper, and you get instruction, etc, but I also wanted the novelty and check in the box of going to M school, see the Spartanburg Facility, plus all the goodies that come with it

Guess its on my "to do" list in life, and hopefully a trip to Germany to drive the Nurnburg Ring is next

this is why I'm going in Feb - I want to learn more on how to drive the e60 M5 aggressively before they discontinue it

(I currently drive an e60 )
