Tint the windshield?
How many people have done this? What are the Pro's & Con's?
I hadn't really thought about it before but I guess it makes some sense. My major concern is the flying rock that puts a nice chip/crack in the windshield 2 days after having the tint. Would appreciate opinions on whether it's worth doing. Thanks |

Downside:
1. Any more tint than 50%, and you'll lose some night visibility. 2. It's illegal and you could receive a fix-it-ticket (although the chances of this are low if you only have 50% tint) 3. If you ever have to replace your windshield, you'll have to replace the tint too. 4. Where the tint covers the windshield dot matrix, it might look a little funny with the air bubbles. Upside: 1. Increased privacy 2. Increased heat rejection

I have mine done in 50% too. The rest of my car is done in 20% and it's great. Dark enough that you don't see in and the visability at night is just fine. 35% may be a bit dark though.

I don't like it on the windshield. When I put my sunglasses on, I see all sorts of the color spectrum.

My tinted windshield (35%) is below. I like it because it flows with the carbon fiber roof from front to back. It also compliments the "grey/black" theme I have going with the rest of the car.

If you tint the windshield, won't it make a difference for nighttime visibility? Even if it's a light tint and affects your viewing distance by 15ft or something, that could be the difference between crashing or not.

it's dangerous, if you get into an accident and hurt someone and somehow the tint is blamed, you may even face criminal charges.

That's what I have and love it. In the summer, it could get very close to 100degrees, so having had it for many years, I don't think I could drive a car without it on.

Too many people are paranoid about the cops stopping you or not being able to see at night and seeing spectrums with sun glasses on.
Let me set the record straight. Tinting your windshield is not going to get you stopped by the cops as long as you go a light tint. 35% on the one members car may be a bit much, but if you go 50% like mine you will be just fine. It's not too dark that you can't see into the windshield at all and at night it's completely safe. All it does is cuts out the glare from the sunlight during the day and headlights at night. I don't see anyone making an argument about auto dimming mirrors, which IMO are far more dangerous because they get pretty dark and all objects are behind you and are naturally harder to see. If you have a hard time seeing straight ahead of you, even with a tinted windshield then you shouldn't be driving. Just my 2 cents

I don't have a problem seeing out of my 35% ceramic windshield. Not even at night is it a problem. I have really sensitive eyes (to light) so it helps me out a ton.

You would last 5min here before you got a ticket with that dark tint front screen!

I've seen some of your pictures and you look to be fairly young. An old fart like me wouldn't be able to see that clearly with it on the front
