Pinewood derby / Krytox

My boys are excited about pinewood derby and have their own designs we're building. I came across a e30 m3 here which is pretty unbelievable. http://www.customwoodshiftknobs.com/m3_woody.htm

I have a tube of Krytox...do you think this would make the wheels spin faster?

You probably want something like sewing machine oil. Krytox is too viscous I would think.

Graphite powder. I won....err....My son won his last 2 years in Cub Scouts before moving onto Boy Scouts. BTW, make sure everything is hollow in the center and all the weights are over both axles.

When I was a cub scout:
I poured my heart into carving a car out of a block of wood with a crappy knife. I never had the fastest car and was always disappointed. Some kids would come in with amazing cars engineered to the max! I wondered how they could make their block of wood look like that or even if it was the same block. My wheels were squeaky and wobbly and the body was dented and deformed.

At the awards meeting, I always got a trophy reading "Most likely made by a cub scout". Lol I look back and am proud I built that piece of shit

I had to lmao on that one. I remember those trophies. I usually got the "well at least you tried" award. I know now that most of the other cars were made by their dads but they'll never admit to it.

Sewing oil is much better than graphite.

When I was a Cub back in the early 70's, I won with the help of my father just before he passed away using graphite for what it is worth.
