Negotiating Price on AW 2012 E92?

Hey guys, I posted the other day about a 2011 AW E92 for sale from an independent dealer and received some good feedback regarding price difference between a 1-2 year old car and buying new.

Anyway, I'm also talking to a salesman at a BMW dealership who has a 2012 Alpine White E92, DCT, Comp and Premium packages, Fox Red/Black/Black interior, premium sound, park distance, heated seats with about 6,500 miles. In service date was November, 2011 and the asking price is $68,795. I told him I could basically buy brand new for about that; according to BMW config, a 2013 equipped the same would invoice at $69,230.

So what's a good number to start negotiating at?

Thanks in advance!

Lightbulb

There is a 2012 in my area (WA state) with ZCP, ZTP, ZCW, 6MT with 1400 miles going for $67,500. I would start at or below it.

Offer $64k and work up from there. It is fully loaded but discount for one MY age (the dealer would do the same thing). You may also want to ask why the previous owner traded in after 10 months. If you are able to find the original owner info, perhaps contact him/her to get more of the history.

If the dealer is staying at the $68k price (or close to it), order a new one.

According to the dealer, a woman purchased it, under influence from her 18 year old son. It was too much car for her so she ended up trading it for an X3. According to the salesman at the dealer, the 18 year old son did not have privileges to it. Who knows if that is true or not.

It's possible. I would still start at the low level and see where it goes. Remember to keep the value of a new M3 at the same equipment level as a reference point.
