2013 Viper or Gt-R

Seeing as how they're priced similarly. Which would you choose?

Not a fan of the Viper's 6400RPM redline, it'd be like driving a diesel. Personally I'd get a Z06 over the two.

Anyway, Viper please. It should be as quick as the C6 ZR1 which means 130+mph traps bone stock. With the 295/355 tire setup it should turn just as well as it goes too.

Did I mention it looks AWESOME!

i love gtr's just as much if not more than the next, but the 97 viper coupe blue with white racing stripes was the car that first made me an enthusiast.

I would take the viper

Viper. I mean look at it. I don't care if a GTR is faster around a track or can do 0-60 in 2.8. I'd rather have something mean and beautiful with a snarling V10 and a 6 speed manual. The new design looks timeless. Just downright sexy. 640 hp, FR, 50/50 weight distribution. Sounds like a winning combo

Putting numbers and everything else aside and looking at both cars from an exterior point of view I would definitely go for the Viper. The GTR is for enthusiasts and doesn't really turn heads, the Viper on the other hand is a straight up head tuner. Hell even the 1st gen Viper still turns heads.

Yeah I'd probably actually take a first gen GTS over a GT-R (not at the same price point though). That blue GTS with the white stripes has also always been an iconic car for me as well.

And the new one is about 100x faster. No contest. Viper.

The Viper requires a driver, the GT-R the car is the star.

Hey, what do you have against my diesel? ;-)

I like that the 2013 is finally reminiscent of the mid 90s design. The car is a beast, but I still think I'd lean toward the gtr for handling's sake...or I'd try to get my hands on a used viper gts or gts-r from the 90s and a lightly used atom for those days when I'm craving a car that could handle (if we're talking perfect world).

Hmm.. for me it would be a tossup between Porsche 991 & the upcoming NSX. The Viper seems like a beast, but I don't think I would be able to access all that power..

The new Viper should be able to turn on par with anything out right now. Haven't seen or read anything to suggest otherwise.

If the handling is on par with the gtr, it would cerrtainly make for a difficult decision. What happened to the days when the appeal of the viper was that you were actually preparing yourself for death each time you strapped in?

Magazines and reviewers have a habit of complaining a lot when cars dont handle like they want them to. That's why BMW's always win handling tests and why Vipers and Vettes get demerits even though they are extremely fast around corners.

Me personally, I like my sportscars to be on the edge. Although, I'm sure the new Viper will snap at you if you decide to use all of that torque at once around a turn.

This is such a cool argument. I don't like a car with a redline that's 600 rpm lower than my car, or the other car in question, but I do suggest another car with a 6,600 rpm.

It's not like any car being discussed revs high. The N54/N55 are out of breath at 5550 rpm, while the Viper is at least still pulling at redline.

OP, both cars are pretty different, or at least the previous Vipers were about as different from the GTR as possible.

Not sure you mean by "unoriginal" copy of 458, vette. And it's supposed to be a copy of the original Viper in spirit and design. You say it like its one of its major downfalls, but compared to the last gen, this thing looks 10x better and will be more refined. Just because SRT stepped up their game doesn't mean they are suddenly copying others. Midlife crisis is more akin to a Vette than anything.
