Oh you annoying old woman! I do this all the time...
especially if it's for a commercial and it's how you drive on a closed course...

I guess you didn't got affected by Ford's message and what they were trying to say huh??
I totally missed out and thought it was a simple ST vs M3 ?

Hint: it wasn't... It's "Fun" vs "Money"

I agree with your point of view all the way.... .... up to your very last sentence:

Ford is NOT targetting the group you are thinking off....
They are not trying to take away the M3 population....

Ford is actually trying to steal away BMW's potential, younger, Munich-loving-virgins out there

Ford is actually trying to convinced those "unknowledgeable" crowds of younger generation of new drivers looking for fun cars to drive...
and so we are talking about Generation Z (currently at 16 to 24, male, AND female).

Ford is trying to show those people that there is a more qualified alternative to the current standards that are WRX, GTi, and Speed3.

Ford is simply trying to step over all those cars to become the reference for those younger generations.

They are not trying to convince those of us of know better...
Ford is just trying to acquired virgin territory...

To show them that they can get the same fun and involvement than an M3 will furnish them, but instead of waiting to realize their drive at higher price,
you can get the same thing for much less money, realizing your desires NOW with the ST.

simply put.
do you work for ford?

LOL @ people in the thread feeling the need to defend their BMW. Seriously, get over it. This will be a fun little car. We need hot hatches in the US, can't wait to sample one myself!

It's a fair commercial-

Should have been --'$$ vs $$$$$$ '
Not '$$ vs $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$'

This commercial makes one want to drive an M3 or at least a WRX STI.

Probably the best M3 commercial, I mean, Ford commercial ever.
Non-m3 drivers have no idea that those $$$$ signs mean.
It is very true indeed.

I think they should put competing drivers in the the cars in the ad and see what happens. I have a feeling the WRX would rip the doors off of that ST on that road...

Focus Mk3 isnt really 'American'. Its made in 6 countries and all are nearly identical for the first time. I do believe it was the European Ford that developed it. Does that make it better? Meh, dunno.

2. It has 20 psi boost. Most people don't know what that means, and in any case, it's just one of countless variables designed into an engine. The only thing that matters ultimately is output. It is what it is. Pointless.
3. It's cheaper than... hmmm. Let's compare it to a Ferrari 458. Wow. It's cheaper. How 'bout a 911. Wow, cheaper. This thing is a world beater.
That's it? That's all they could come with to convince us to buy their product?
This is why American car makers are where they are. They've spent the last 30 years building the cheapest thing they can make, then, assuming the public is stupid, relying on dishonest marketing to sell to the ignorant masses.
Ford is doing great, and making great cars as of late. You can pick apart their ad, and make comparisons to Ferrari or Porsche, but their doing great.

Great little car though. Always was disappointed that overseas got the decent Fords and we never did. Although I did enjoy my Contour SVT back in the day! I would STILL rock one of those as a daily...
I also had a Contour SVT. Also knows as the M2.5...LOL

I have driven the new ST and it drives pretty damn nice. At 25k my money goes to the BRZ personally for a new car but the ST comes in a seriously close second.

I like the commercial especially when the m3 comes out. It shows that the m3 is not for everyone. That's right it's only for true ///M fans. Lol

Made me want an M3 even more now :'( !!!

And they screwed themselves by having a chick driving. You know that no GUY is gonna dare buy that car now. They will probably be teased for life lol. On the other hand, women to men ratio is probably 2>1 in the world.

GL Ford!
