Ford + Ecoboost = LOL

I had to post this. Leave it up to Ford to try to push a product by basically rigging a test. They put their FUGLY Lincoln with the new Ecoboost engine up against some European V8's and in order to actually compete they made them race on top of a mountain haha. Funny part is... they still only came in 2nd to a 550i

I saw this on TV last night, but here is a link to the online article. The magazine had to actually RENT the cars because nobody would loan them a freebie due to the biased test (high altitude: turbo vs. n/a cars). Needless to say, it is so retarded they aren't even going to print the article.

A customer owned flash only Tarus SHO ran a 12.7 @ 108 recently (which would smoke a 550i wit $400 in power mods). Not bad for a 4400 lb, AWD, automatic luxo barge the size of a freaking 7 series. In a short while, they'll more than likely make modded 335s nervous. I think that's impressive. Go Ford (and I've never owned a domestic in my life).

It doesn't matter how fast Tarus goes in 1/4ml, it is still a crappy Ford. BMW FTW! Btw the Lincoln looks fugly...

i see it as Ford built a very capable engine (better than our N54?), unfortunately they don't have worthwhile cars to put those engines in.

Nothing wrong with Ford as far as domestics go, but thats a pretty huge caveat, isn't it?

Silly. In the Final Run, you see the Ford guy say "At some point, people doubted if America...". He stops there and immediately starts saying "the technology would be good enough....".

Tech to back up that rather ignorant statement?

All I see here is a bunch of kids who don't know a whole hell of a lot, other than how to compete to see whose nose can be stuck up the highest....

You people call yourselves American?

I can't wait for the opportunity to buy a second car (likely SUV) and it will almost certainly be American. I'd rather keep the dollars in the country. And that something you younger people don't know anything about. That its a strong American economy that provides you with opportunities to buy nice things (be it import or domestic).

You don't have to drive an American car, but for fucks sake, cheer them on.

We had a discussion about this the other day in my international finance class actually. Its interesting how most consumers tend to stick with domestic brands. If you go to Germany you see an overwhelmingly majority of German cars. If you go to Spain you see SEATS. If your in France you see mostly Renaults, Puegots etc. America is one of the few that chooses to reject our own brands.

I saw the show on, but I was not interested enough to watch, already knew which car would come in 1st.

anyways the:
Jag = is a ford ( was designed by ford ).

But, they should have used the 535, I am sure that it would have taken 1st also.

No they are American. Americans strive to be cool and remain in ignorance.

So it is uncool to have an American car/non-German automaker and will remain ignorant to the fact the American automakers( except Chrysler) are actually pumping out good cars now. Some even beat their precious BMW.

I think many of the new domestic products are actually very appealing.

I can even comfortably say that the new Ford Taurus actually looks good. Even the new Buicks (think my grandmothers old car) is actually pretty hot. The new Lincolns are top notch in build quality.

I love this new caddy!

It is because we vote with our wallets.

And depending on what you do for a living, your wallet is sure to get lighter if you continue to give your money to people who don't live here.

In all honesty, they probably stick with their national brands because they make something that the public want to buy.

A Renault Megane is a good car, anywhere. So is a Fiat Punto and so is the Honda Civic.

Can the same be said for the Chrysler Sebring or the Dodge Caliber?
