At my stealer the cost of the extended warranty is priced based on the current mileage when you buy it. IE it costs more the closer you are to the expiration. Anyone else heard of this?

w/r/t the post about cost changing as warranty-term looms, that is the first I've heard that, and it really makes no sense. I think that may be sales-hooey.

this kinda makes sense if you assume that they invest the $3,200 you would have paid at the beginning. $3,200 today > $3,200 in 4 years under most circumstances (recent stock market returns excluded). I don't know if that is their reasoning, but it makes sense to me.

More than that I think. I paid for ext. *maintenance* (not warranty) for about $2600. I recall the dealer's warranty table showing some mad money amount for this car, like $7k for all in.

It's the BMW EVP Protection Plan. The attached document explains it, and it's priecy. I don't know how much room there is to negotiate on these prices (I suspect maybe up to 25%), so maybe someone with some first hand experience can chime in. The BMW website has more of the details. The Platinum covers almost everythuing, inclyuding iDrive and Navi. Gold is similar to Platinum but doesn't cover iDrive, Navi, and certain electrical items.

I've got 71000+ and the car is still great. One door speaker sounds like hell and the angel eye bulbs needed replacing but everything else is normal. It's always sucked oil, but none on the garage floor.
Run her from LA to Atlanta last summer in 37 hours. Used one quart and stopped for gas every 270 miles. No issues beyond wear items. |

i have 40,000 miles and the only major issue i have had is the idle valve when i first had my car around 7,000 miles.i also had a bad gas cap for a little while due to the tune not having a active cel light.Had to replace a few wiper blades for free and rear light bulb. Since 10,000 miles i have added different mods and at 30,000 miles i was fully modded except a sc. Car is running strong only downside is my summer tires dont go longer than a season.
