One consistent thing that is missing in this thread is whether the M3 and
the discounting off MSRP is a manual tranny or a DCT. I imagine its very
hard to get $ off a DCT - a dealer checked for me yesterday and there
are a total of 8 M3 DCT versions that are dealer vehicles that are coming in
next consignment. Dont know if its true, though.

military sales...show off's! I did it back in the day when I was in the AF. I am on the East Coast, did a search of what I wanted, found it, called the dealership...3K off of MSRP pending sale of my car not including taxes/tags transfer. I have no trade in, cash in hand (bank check) and it is manual. I plan on speaking to the local dealership and performing a see saw deal to get more off...then buy.

What color did you get? I am dying to get one!

I assumed that's without the GGT and destination charge, right?

Do they added on the MACO and training fee?

did somebody say Cheat....... no such word in my book....Maybe its because I am the Shady1 I did stateside delivery no GGT, I ordered my M3 before I left Germany. I used my orders so I was limited on the places I could ship my M3 but it saved me $775 destination charge . You did your delivery to your dealer and you robbed yourself . Your sales rep should have hooked you up more and school you on some ways to (get over) save some of your money. I think I am doing pretty good so far. Some people that go the route I did get stuck with that 2.5% marine tax, not me I got USAA insurance they opened my policy up again from when I was there in Germany put the M3 under it and covered it from Germany to the states saved a $1000.00 plus on this route. Only thing next to tackle is sales tax Damn

I got Jet Black on black...i'm sure i'll regret it during mid-summer, but it was seeing it in black for the first time that even got me interested in an M3, no other color seems to quite get me as fired up about the car.

But yah, you're right...GGT, tax, MACO, training fees are not included in that 1500 over unfortunately.

Here is the deal I got after having three dealers competing against one another:

- Custom Ordered in June
- Options: as per my signature
- Off MSRP: $2,200
- Performance Delivery Center (Free anyway)
- Sales guy also threw the following in the deal: M3 Floor Mats / M3 Key Ring / M3 License Plate Frames / M3 Die Cast Model / Wheel locks (I have received all of these items except the mats which are on back order)
- Also decided to take the tire insurance program for $1,500... wasn't sure about the 19" with all these potholes in NJ.

Can' t wait to pick my car and go for my Summer road trip!! Will post pics once I will have done so.

pretty good deal

I just had 08 conv delivered that I bid for on ebay from a dealer in Louisville. List 77,270. Purchased 71,850. I was nervous about the whole deal but the car was delivered in perfect, new condition with 15 miles on odometer. Delivery was $500 arranged by lease company. I leased with the idea that had the car been misrepresented the lease company would have been brought into any issue and at worst case I could walk away in a few years. Now I'm driving and it is fantastic despite break-in limitations. I drove an 03 and then 04 M3 and this is a huge step-up. The ebay deal can be viewed by looking at the recently sold M3s on ebay-alpine white/tan conv.

I was #1 for 09 allocation for conv at my local dealer. They said they could come down "a few hundred" on what they had in inventory before I completed the ebay deal. Dollars are dollars and better deals are out there. Good luck! TD

Question: Is it worth waiting for 2009 M3 or go with 2008 loaded M3 with $5000.00 off MSRP ($69320)?

well im going after an 09 coupe m-dct at this point with hopes of getting it with the new navigation system. and I priced mine out at around $68k before taxes. i want that to come down to at least $64k. Im going to try to pull all my strings like the puppet master, but im still limited to what these dealerships are willing to do. How do i get my car if i go through a dealer in another state? is there literally a truck that comes to my house to drop off my new baby?

$64K for an 2009 M3-DCT would be nice. I played around with a DCT dealer had on the lot (did'nt drive it) and thought about it, but for $2700, I may choose some other options and stay with the 6-MT.

Is waiting for the new Nav worth it? Will it even be offered? Also, none of the dealers I've spoken to are willing to commit to a price w/o knowing if 2009 M3 price will increase. So-far, the best that I could do is: $2500 discount ($66K out the door on 2009 M3) and $5000 discount ($63500 out the door on 2008 M3). Still undecided!

i guess we are in a similar boat. i want to be reassured that the new model year will have the navigation i want... everything else can be worked out. if they try to play hard ball i pull out my ace... which would be a mean spirited thing to do so i will try to meet them half way so neither i nor the dealer feel cheated.

Spanish: What do you mean "mean spirited"? It's your money! Dealer is not paying you to buy the car. Now is the time to try to negotiate the best deal that you can. Trust me: Dealers rarely (if ever) lose on these types of transactions. That is not opinion, but rather a statement of fact! There are too many other options out there: Audi S5, Porsche 911 2009 (base model).
