It was bound to happen...

So after braving the traffic and retarded drivers for almost 2 years I took the M for a nice drive on the rare sunny day which had just hit 50 degrees. On the way home I was past the witching hour of 3 pm on Long Island and was just getting to my exit on the 135 when I saw a lot of construction and traffic in the distance. There was a large cloud of spray from cutting concrete or possibly line painting up ahead. Stopped and waiting to go right on red I chanced to look over my shoulder, worried that some overspray or debris might find it's way onto me..... while rolling forward...... Right into the suv in front of me.

All this time spent protecting my car from others and I'm the one who F's it up.

Going to visit Martino Auto Concepts in the morning. So much for having an "all original mint M3" Just pissed at myself.

Edit: pics attached. Could be worse, I know, but 3 body panels and a headlight.... I'm the guy who would strangle somebody over a door ding.

Ouch, that is going to be expensive . I also had a seemingly small damage like this, I feel for you. I had to replace the fender, hood, bumber cover and headlight cluster. It cost me a little fortune. Good luck with the repairs.

Sorry about your luck, I feel the same way about other drivers. It's just a car, get her fixed and back on the road.

Thanks for the kind words guys. The reason I'm starting with Martino is because of the good feedback I had heard on here. It's gotta be done perfect or I may as well leave it busted up. I have NOT had good experiences with Rallye's body shop on my previous car. Insurance should take care of it minus my deductible.

Aw man sorry OP. It's always frustrating when you can only blame yourself...
I once backed my 335 into my DD while backing out of the garage. I was like who the EFFFF parked that car there and then I remembered it was me

I just got my rear bumper and rear body panel done at Mid Island collision. They did great work, but took FOREVER (6 weeks) and it wasn't cheap, $13k. Thankfully the person who rear ended me had her insurance pay. I have heard good things about Island Collision in Oceanside. Good luck! Hope to see you at the meet on March 16th.

Stuff happens. My M3 suffered from a hail storm within a few weeks of getting it. A great bodyshop PDR guy made all well again. Get a great bodyshop and you'll be ok.

Thanks for the support guys. Dropped her off at Martino in Glen cove today- hopefully they live up to their reputation. The shop was full of Lambo's, Ferraris, a Mazerati, and a crazy E46 with something like 900hp. John was cool to talk to and showed me around. Will keep everyone posted.
