need a little advice

Just brought a brand new 2010 m3 coupe fully loaded less than a week ago. I was planning on paying cash for it, but the dealer said I could get a better deal if I financed it, so I did with the intention on paying the car off with the first payment.

I got so excited driving the car on my test drive (jerez black) that I ended up buying it without looking at any other colors. Some of the other colors are really appealing. Is there anyway to trade in my car for a diff color without losing too much $$$? Any suggestions on how to go about this? Car was 64k after tax and license I owe 71k.

I don't see the point in financing if you don't need to.. and to answer your question no, there's no cost efficient way to trade in your current vehicle for a different color, you lost 10k driving it off the lot.

First of, congratz on the new ride!

Second, all the colors are very nice and unique in there own specific way. Jerez black is one badass color and it looks mean. See no reason why you would want to trade it. I picked SG because I really liked it when i saw it but I wouldnt mind having another color also. So your problem thinking you should have picked another color is the same with alot of people id guess. Just enjoy your ride and dont look back.

I only financed because they gave me a better price. I plan on paying it off in full on the first payment.

I think JB is nice, I will get it in my next BMW. Don't trade it, that uncertainty is always part of the buyers remorse but nothing beats a nice and clean black paint job, plus i think its easier to match Mods with that color, like wheel colors.

Just fyi, I read somewhere that doing that will really hurt your credit rating. Banks don't like to see people taking large amounts of credit and turning around and paying it in full that quickly.

There's something beautiful about a clean, black sports car. Keyword, clean.

So let me get this straight. You have enough money to buy an M3 in cash. Yet you let a salesmen convince you to finance a car in a color you don't like. I would recommend you bring someone with you next time you go to buy a car. You will lose a ton of money if you try and sell that car now and order one in the color you want, but it sounds like you can afford it so go with it. If you don't like that one, perhaps the 3rd time will be the charm.

The OP has two issues that can be discussed. The first is financing or buying the car outright. I have a very good friend who actually paid less by getting financing and then paying it off in the first billing cycle. So nothing wrong with that.

The second issue is the OP thinks that other colors would be nicer so how bad would it be to switch out. It does not matter how he paid he will take a hit since he already drove it off the lot. There is no cheap and easy way out. Unless the dealer feels like doing him a favor (not to likely). So in the end the OP needs to take a deep breath and say to himself is it worth spending more money on a different color or not.

It seems that he bought impulsively (not so bad since it’s still an M3) but should learn a lesson in life that a good deal can be had every day and that a salesperson wants you to believe that this is the only good deal you will ever get. You may want a New BMW on any given day but I find it hard to believe that you really objectively need a new BMW TODAY!

Keep the car you have, it is great and you should let your buyers remorse pass quickly. All colors drive the same......Good Luck, learn a lesson and enjoy your new car.......Steve

I actually picked out this color, the salesman had no say in it. They had Jerez and AW. I thought the AW white looked boring very ricer-ish, and the Jerez caught my eye. I really like it, but after seeing other amazing colors, Its making me second guess my choice.

Writing a check for 72k is tough. Just wish I thought out the color choice as much as I did the make and model.

If the car was 61K after you paid taxes and tag, how do you owe 71K? Is that part of the good deal you got by financing the car? Did you owe money on a trade that you had rolled into the loan for the M3? Are you sure you can afford to pay cash?

Maybe my grammar was poor. The car was 64k (period). after tax and license I owe 71k. A little passive aggressive?

As I said above....give yourself a break. you are driving a new BMW M3. That is a big deal to a lot of folks including yourself and me. Just remember that next time you buy a car, take some time, do some research and then make sure that you know that you don't have to buy it now.

Remeber that the salesperson does not want you leaving without making a sale. But you are the buyer and can spend your money when, where and how you like.....Steve

Well it's killing me not to know. What colors do you like better? In Canada we get a choice of some individual colors you don't but one of those is just another shade of black. Very nice mind you.

Let's look at it, two very similar blues. LB and IB. Both very nice, was with a little purple in it and the other a clean blue. We all would drive those colors.

Two blacks, Jet Black and JB. Both very nice. Jet black is just that black. JB gives you many different looks, even black. We all would drive those colors.

Two silver/grey colors, Space Grey and Silverstone. Space is very rich looking and Silverstone really shows of the lines but a little conservative. Yep we would all drive those too.

So we have red and white left. Either you love red or you don't. As for white, possibly the best color but all my friends have white to I don't. And I would say no to either of these either.

Every time I saw a new color, the same color with cool mods I wanted. JB is a great colour especially in the bright sun. I don't know who got into your head and made you think you made a mistake but you didn't. I would almost anything everyone of us has said, I wish I had that one. Dam it's a M3.

Congrats on a great decision. Good color and smart to save some money using their BMWFS discount.

If you are going to keep the M3, and based on the fact you bought it you are, rather than trade it in/sell it, just paint it. Since you already "lost" money driving it off the lot, I would just pay to have a bad ass custom paint job done. If you sell then re-buy, you will have to pay taxes again, plus depreciation....cheaper to get the exact color you want with a custom paint job.

64K to me is a great price on a new 2010 M3 Coupe IF it has every available option. MSRP should be $76,505. That's over 12K off msrp and about $6,400 under dealer invoice. I wish I got that kind of deal 3 months ago. But I guess with the 2011's coming out shortly, the dealers are getting quite a large incentive to move the 2010's.

As to paying if off at the first payment, back in
2004, I purchased a new 2005 Dodge Magnum RT (don't ask). Anyway, at the time I was going to pay for it in full but Chrysler Financial was giving a $2,000 credit at time of purchase if financed through Chrysler Financial. So I financed it and payed it off in full at the first payment. No penalty and it did not harm my credit rating.

Keep your Jerez clean and swirl free and it is an AWESOME color.

My car is sitting in the garage far cleaner than the day I drove it off the lot... clayed, cleaned, with 3 coats of Zymol CONCOURS pure carnuba wax. Paint is perfect, wheels are impeccable, glass is squeaky clean, interior looks and smells new, engine bay is show clean and the trunk is cleaned out and perfectly organized. I even FLITZed the chrome quad exhaust pipes... they look like mirrors INSIDE and out.

Snow is gone... another week of warm weather and it is M season again!
